Hi, I am a newbe and I got a 2001 Buell Blast 500 from a friend (very low mileage - 1200). When my bike runs, it idles soooooo high, it sounds like I am revving the engine, but I am not. It is super peppy/jumpy, in first gear, without giving it any gas, letting out the clutch slowly will make it leap forward almost. Is that just a 'Buell thing"? My experienced friends ride Harleys so they don't know and can't really compare. They tried adjusting the idle down, but then the bike would just keep dieing out. Thoughts? And thanks. |

If you don't get an answer here shortly there is a forum for Blast's (THUMPer forum). You might want to repost it there for a quicker answer. MM |

Sounds like you have either an intake or exhaust leak. To check for intake leak(s) use propane gas, NOT LIT, and run it around the intake from the carb to the head. If it speeds up your idle, you'll need to replace that seal. Exhaust leak can be checked with cold engine idle and a leather glove. You'll be able to feel it. American Sport Bike is your friend! |
