On the way to the dealer for the test ride, Goe EBR - Kawasaki in Angleton, Texas, just south of Houston, I thought to myself, 'this Uly is the best bike I have ever ridden'. After riding the RX for 20 miles though, my first thought when I pulled out on my Uly was that it felt like a KLR! Hey, no offense to the Uly but that's exactly how it felt. After 10 miles or so it was my Uly again. The RX is LOW at the bars and has a heck of a clutch pull when sitting in the showroom but once out on the rode it feels good and I didn't even notice the clutch UNTIL, I got to a long stop light. It tracks like a slot car, hates to even come close to lugging, and is one heck of a fun bike to ride. I highly recommend a test ride. |

What's the insurance on yours cost D_adams? I checked on what mine would be if I bought one and it was more than I'm willing to pay. As my fourth bike, and I'm FAR removed from a spring chicken, it would be $1,200 a year! I can't imagine, or I guess I can now, what it would be for a 25, 35, 45, or even 55 year old. Enjoy yours, Man. It's a very cool bike, in its category. |

$512 Allstate. Interestingly $467 for the RS. Geico wouldn't cover it at all, and neither would progressive. |

Full coverage, Ljm? I have Allstate! They are very competitive on my other three bikes but not the RX. I'll check again on Monday. |

Yep. Have a bunch of other bikes with them of various types, and am older than dirt so that helps. |

I'd had American Family for years, they quoted $3200/year. Geico was $1000. The kicker was the amount I paid to AF, Gieco charged $100 less for everything, including the new bike, so essentially saves me $3300/year by switching. My other bikes were maybe $400/year each (less I think) so I got pretty bent about the $3200/year quote, plus they got pretty smarmy with the "You'll be back, we get call backs all the time from every other insurance co out there". Not for $3200 more per year I won't. |

Geico went up $650 per year on the 1190rx, over my 2013 KTM RC8r, that one I can't figure out yet, will be checking around. I pay 1232.00 per year for full coverage on three bikes, 1978 H-D FLH ElectraGlide, Buell 1125r, EBR 1190rx. |

The insurance discussion is worthy of its own thread. It sure seems like insurance companies are not very adept at dealing with the introduction of new models. There's no logical reason for the price to vary so wildly between companies. I imagine it'll settle out to something more uniform in a few months. |

Torquehd, , it happened but I didn't think of pictures at the time. Sorry. On my ride home I did think of them though and wish I had asked the dealer to take some so I could see how I looked on the bike. I felt like I was scrunched up and angled a little strangely but they said it didn't look that way. I got more comfortable as the ride progressed. Squeezing the tank a bit with my thighs helped a lot and the air helped hold me up more upright, my back straight, etc. I'll ride it again and get pics. I agree, Hugh. Insurance is worthy of its own thread. I've started checking around today and agents are having trouble finding anything on it. I suspect that was Allstate's problem. I'll get back with Allstate on Monday. |

It's classified as a superbike, so the premium will be higher, similar to all the other plastic covered japanese bikes. |

Thanks guys. I found out this morning that the agent gave me a quote on the 'RS' because they couldn't find the 'RX'. It would have been nice if they told me that. I'm going to get a VIN no. and try again. |

And in the 6 years of ownership of my 1125, I've never come close to wadding it. |

Knock on wood, (not you Figorvonbuellingham) I've always been able to stand them up and ride off. It will be nice if the AX comes with a T after it's designation. Touring seams cheaper to insure. My XT was $100 a year full coverage. |
