Anyone know where or what this plugs into....
This is located on the left side of the battery... in the picture below, bottom middle.... I don't know if this is its original location or not.... My experience is mainly with Uly's
Any help would greatly be appreciated. This is a 2008 XB12STT that i am putting back into street form after it was a race bike. Basically any unnecessary items were unplugged and removed for weight savings. At this point I am short the tail light assembly I believe. Thanks - pete |

Can’t be sure but that looks like the plug for the exhaust valve actuator. If this was a race bike it probably has an aftermarket exhaust. If it still has the stock muffler the exhaust valve is probably wired open. Neither would require an actuator. If it throws a CEL code for a missing actuator you can turn it off with ECMSpy. |

Try pulling the shielding back from the plug. If the wires to the plug are Tn/V to pin 4 (if you can find a pin # on the plug), next is W, then Bk, and O to pin #1, then according to my '08 wiring diagram that would/should be the muffler actuator motor plug. In any case, if the wire colors are different, let us know and maybe they can be matched up via the diagram. Hope this helps, Dave |

It has a Jardine exhaust.... makes sense that you both are says Exhaust code..... Just hooked up the instruments cluster the other day. I had started it before the cluster was installed, after changing the oil and gas.... runs great but now with the cluster in it is throwing a code..."engine light on".... goes off to start it but then once it fires it stays on. The cluster was removed when it was made for race duty... still shows 105 miles on it. I hate that ECMspy isn't Apple friendly... all I have I'll hit up the mechanic who built it up, he said he would help if needed when I bought it, see if he will turn it off perhaps. Thanks fellas, most helpful. Cheers |

next problem has arised..... turn signals dont blink.... everything is plugged in correctly I believe... switch signal on and the little black box under the cowl does a little buzz buzz but barely... but no blinking... I took the same black box out of my Uly and hooked it up and same exact results... slight buzz buzz but no blink... Thoughts??? |

Turn signal thing sounds like a bad flasher (the little black box under the cowl). It should click, not buzz, and if it clicks, it will flash. Of course, that assumes the wiring is all correct. |

Going on the premise that the Uly flasher worked properly and that you used that to check the TT flasher: At the connector that the flasher plugs into, confirm that the black wire is in fact properly connected to ground. Resistance should be close to zero. The most likely gremlin, IMO. Next, confirm 12V to the O/W wire. If that is good, then confirm the integrity of the V/BN wire to the LH switch. Connector 24A. Then check resistance from 24A to ground on the V and BN wires. These run to/through the turn signals, so some resistance is expected. As a wild guess, something in the 5 ohm range? O/W Orange, white tracer V/BN Violet, brown tracer V Violet BN Brown Hope this helps, Dave |

I took the "flasher box" out from the working Uly to establish that the "flasher box" wasn't bad.... it had the same results with both boxes and made the exact same noise.... its a click / buzz... but it sounds like it is trying to work but can't... if that makes any sense.... it tries slowly to a degree. Dave, thanks again... I will go through things more closely as you described. I'll check all the blinkers for fluid levels.... ... actually I can hook them up to running ( license plate ) light to check the bulbs also... did that on accident once already... helpful perhaps. Electrical stuff is less then exciting.... Patience...patience ... and etc thanks, and I'll keep you all posted -Nate |

Are they LED turnsignal upgrades? |

I would highly recommend switching to a good quality synthetic blinker fluid. |

How is it going? Any luck with the turn signal issue? If so, what was the problem/fix? Just curious, Dave |

Dave - Hoping to get in the shop tomorrow or friday... I have a few more parts to pick up.... tail light and a lower SS headlight bracket ... damn headlight is aiming way to high right now. I will get flashed by mad drivers for sure. A few local guys I have chatted with have said similar things... check connections, etc.... I'll post more here Dave, thanks. |

Update.... Didn't get to the signals as I got distracted by the brake light.... Had to install a new one as I didn't have one.... That was easy... But the damn thing is on all the time.... So I'm looking for a bad switch I think.... After going over the bike and educating my self in the brake switch notion .... I come to realize that the front brake switch is there but not hooked up... I studied the electric diagram and figured out which wire is supposed to be it and the wires had been cut, folded over and taped.... Now I am searching for the connector with wires attached..... Hope to hit a salvage yard on Friday.... Ugh So I moved on to my Uly that has two stripped screws by the previous owner which are preventing me from mounting my side bag racks.... Bought easy out tools, etc.... Currently, I'm down three drill bites and both extractors... Finally removed the tail section for easier working environment and mobility.... I fear 2 screws are going to make me end up buying a new tail section... Oh well...... Educating myself on the bike more and more and this is my 4th Buell. Frustrating but fun |

the wire looks like its for the interactive exhaust controller. same one my xb12x has. |

Dave- If.... .and I mean a big "if" your willing, will you look at your flasher box under your front cowl and tell me which colored wires go on each terminal... That might simply be my problem with the turn signals, just like the tail light.... Thanks-Nate |

OK. Looking at the wire side of the connector to the flasher: 12 oclock empty 3 oclock black 6 oclock purple 9 oclock R/W 2 wires FWIW, and if I am understanding the problem correctly, if you turn on the left turn signal and both light and flash, then ask for right and only one lights up, the signals are hooked up properly. The problem is somewhere between the handlebar switch and the light that doesn't work to ground. Start with the bulb. Then is the bulb getting power? Is the socket grounded? Hope this helps, Dave |

Dave - Wires are hooked up correctly.... check I have verified that all the signals work and bulbs aren't blown, by hooking them up to license plate light.... all work. So therefore some of the harness is intact.... I have used a working flasher box from my Uly to eliminate the idea that the flasher box is bad....both made the same horrible noise as they attempt to create a blink.... it is a weak buzz for 3 maybe 4 times before it quits.... I checked the fuses... are are currently good... one was blown but have replaced it and still, same result.... that is what i got..... but on a positive note... I did get to take my fist ride on it today... a chilly 16 miles... fun fun... Thoughts anyone.... Thanks |
