All the threads found when searching on this subject were old, didn't see this. So-called 'bolt-on' kick start for '91-2003 Sportsters. http://www.ledsledcustoms.com/products.asp?id=65&c at_section=Parts Don't know where the footpegs are in relation to this. But I thought its cool somebody bothered to do this. There was one time already when this could have kept me from walking home... |

I would not waist my time. i road a kick start only HD shovel head for 15 years it had a 98 cubic inch motor. i learnt all about kick starting a hd even had to choose a cam that would start easy. but the shovel i had ran 1,6 primary ratio, so one kick turned motor 1.6 times it had points ignition . the sporster run a lower gearing in the primary so need lots more force to kick them over. plus the fact the new ignitions fire every second stroke, so very hard to kick start as points used to fire both cylinders every stroke. i kick started a big inch sportster once was real hard to kick over. save your money or glue a kicker to u bike 4 looks |

I watched Easy Rider the other day on Netflix. Peter Fonda looked like he weighed all of 150 lbs in that movie and yet he was kicking that big HD chopper off everytime without a hitch. |

10:1 compression on two cylinders and a long duration cam do not make for a kick friendly bike. The bikes that look so easy to kick have 9:1 compression, a very mild cam, points ignition, and a seasoned rider. |

My '79 Triumph is a breeze to kick over but I wouldn't be looking for that experience with my Buell, especially at that price. |
