A local dealership is going to do the 15k valve adjustment for me, I have the tools and know how, I just very much lack the time. And they are only charging 150 dollars. But I need to know if I need to buy the gasket that usually goes between the top end and the jugs. Or really any other parts. Thanks guys. Chris. (Message edited by kilika on March 01, 2014) |

Yea $150 sounds like they are doing an oil change, not valve adjustment. |

Yeah I'm going to take it in and let them look at it before I leave her with them. It's a BMW shop, because the local HD wouldn't even try. And the guy at BMW has taken good care of me before with my Yamaha FZR. Anyway he said he hadn't ever worked on a buell but always wanted one. I told him it was a dohc 4 valve 72 degree vtwin and he said they were hurting for something to do so that's what he quoted. If I get there and he changes it I guess I'll decide then. Haha. Chris. |

If you trust him, bring your service manual and tell him to take his time and do a good job. valves get tighter with time. `within spec` is not as good as being on the loose side of the spec. |

Just had my 12K checks done and for the valve check, the mechanic billed it at 3.5 hrs @ $91/hr. Came out to just over $300 which I though was really reasonable. |

I've done Loretta's twice. Top-end gaskets are reusable. She's usually down a week in my garage. So far, I've rotated the motor. Next time I'll pull the frame. Whatever you do, don't drop a shim. If you do, find it before you hit the start button. Dominus Vobiscum Z |

I called to double check and then asked him to go ahead and do the oil and spark plugs and it went to $250. I guess they really are hurting for something to do. I win I guess. Chris. |

I'm definitely doing the frame removable next time. I want more room to work Yes, dropping shims is a PIA |
