EXCELLENT article on Hero with extensive discussion of EBR's role. http://www.gizmag.com/hero-honda-battle-buell/3072 7/ I'm sure there are lots of "nuggets" here; I just gave it a quick read. One nugget I caught: part of the reason for the Helicon's 72 degree V angle is that computer simulations of the exhaust note showed it sounded really cool at high RPM. I love it. |

quote:Last October (2013), Hero sold a record 625,000 motorcycles in India alone – that’s one every four seconds, including a single day on October 21, 2013 when it sold 110,000 motorcycles. Most countries don’t see that many motorcycles sold in a year, with all marques combined.

Interesting...isn't that 110,000 figure somewhere close to the total number of Buells ever sold while with Harley? |

Last October (2013), Hero sold a record 625,000 motorcycles in India alone – that’s one every four seconds, including a single day on October 21, 2013 when it sold 110,000 motorcycles. Most countries don’t see that many motorcycles sold in a year, with all marques combined. Whilst I'm convinced the amount of Hero sales are staggering, those numbers don't make any sense what so ever! I thought so when I read the article, and attempted to work it out since you quoted it Court. If my sums are correct a single unit every four seconds in one year totals 7884000 If it were a single unit every minute the total units would be 525600, and you still have to add the one day units of 110000 to get close to the number quoted. So it can't be every four seconds as that's way too many units. And it can't be minutes unless every minute and not every four minutes. Then the number of singular units is a short fall from 625000 unless including the one day unit of 110000, which then would make the unit numbers almost work. Total, 635600 units. Or, one bike sold every minute of the year to include 110000 sold in one day that same year. Of course, this means 10600 units must have been returned which doesn't look go without explanation, lol Rocket in Accounting |

Really not that difficult . . . first read the article. Then go to the HERO website and read the official public filing data (I posted a link several weeks ago) and you;ll begin to get a sense of the massive capabilities HERO has at it's disposal and their fierce quest to enter the international market. Bottom line is that Elves have done what Honda promised to do and failed. |

@Rocket - 31 days in OCT x 24 hrs in a day x 60 minutes in an hour x 60 seconds in a day = 2,678,400 seconds /4 = 669,600 bikes. So they fudged a little bit, but still more than one bike every 5 seconds. |
