Had a great time today at the American Sport Bike event, first I met up with one of the pre-rides out of San Diego in Temecula. After a fun and spirited ride through the canyons (thanks Jerry) we stopped at a nut farm to rest Here are some pics of the catered set up that was waiting for us- the food was awesome. Here is our host giving stuff away, alot of cool prizes! I have to go take care of my daughter, will post more later. Great to see everyone, thank you American Sport Bike! |

The BBQ was dazzling. Al and Joanne had the event catered with Tri-tip, BBQ chicken, salad, and potato salad. 30-40 free prizes were then raffled off! Buellers came from as far away as San Francisco and Prescott, AZ. I am a whipped puppy after an entire day of riding and feasting. Thanks Al and Joanne and Zach. You really made our day! |

I had a great time and the ride to and from American Sport Bike was fantastic -- the 73 toll roads, while less compacted as it relates to twisties, sure is fun when it's me on my Buell, 1 Ducati Monster S4 and a MV Brutale...how the hell I got lucky enough to end up next to these two is beyond me...it was our own personal 15 mile ribbon of asphalt fun! Had a great time meeting everyone and look forward to next time. Thanks Al and Joanne...it was really a great day. Chris |

Hey, Many thanks to Al and Joanne for carrying on a great SoCal tradition -- the American Sport Bike BBQ. This was the topper of a great day of riding one of Jerry Johnson's backroads-twisty-adventures (hopefully not the last one for the year). Discovered some new roads in SD county on the route and some not ridden yet (by me) that got short-cut due to lack of time. So, I've got an excuse to go back sometime and re-trace the entire route Jerry & Tat envisioned Also thanks to the multitude of Arizona riders who came out to ride the backroads. It was fun mingling with y'all on the two lane blacktop. Ebear & Sandblast, thanks for the visuals. Good food, good roads, good friends. These are the good times! Sparky & Jen |

No, thank all of YOU for coming and making the event a success! Joanne & I had a grand time, I just wish I could have spent more time chatting with all the folks that showed up. Had too much work to do with a gadjillion things to spend as much time just socializing as I would have liked to. It was a pleasure putting faces and names together, and getting to know a few of you better! And to those that couldn't make it, well, I don’t want to rub it in, but you really missed a good time, please come next year. After the morning rides came in from San Diego, Oceanside and Glendale, the riders were ready to rehydrate, relax, and EAT! And we were ready for them with Marinated Tri-Tip Sirloin, Juicy Chicken, Garden Salad, Chilled Red Potato Salad, Zesty Barbecue Beans (and we do mean Zesty!), Sweet Ranch Rolls, Tortilla Chips with Salsa Fresca, and an American Flag Cake. After good belly stuffin, everyone started checking out the other bikes, comparing notes on parts and rides, looking at American Sport Bike’s lineup, voting on the show categories, listening to music, and just plain relaxing. The winners of the Peoples choice bike show, as well as the best Ride Tale and Longest Distance (San Francisco), were announced, and we gave away a lengthy list of free raffle prizes. The prizes from our wonderful suppliers/sponsors included a Bieffe helmet from Van Leeuwen, a Cycle Venture Sport Kit and Sport Pack, billet mirrors from Joker Machine, Lane Splitter Bar End Mirrors from CRG, Pulley Covers from Banke, a Scotts Performance Discount certificate, a Buell work shirt from Biggs Harley-Davidson, Brake Pads from Lyndall Racing Brakes, novelty Truck Banks, lots of hats and t-shirts from Drag Specialties, a Sliding T-Socket set from Cruz tools, Points Covers from Crossroads, a Compact Digital Tire Gauge and T-shirt from Kuryakyn, T-shirt and Cap from Heli Modified, a Motion Pro Tool, Gloves, and lots of T-shirts from Motion Pro, T-shirts from Fast Company, a Data Link from Ironmachine, $60 in gift certificates from Brake Tech, cool hats from San Diego Harley-Davidson and a Matco Rocker Box Wrench from the previous owner of American Sport Bike, now known as ToolBox Tat! Special thanks to John P., Chris H. (Barknbite), Eric B (Ebear), Nelson and Barbara, Tat, Maria and Mel, Tom R. (Reindog), Jerry J., Tim and Candace, and John S. for helping out with shade structures, ride leadership, set up and take down. You guys ROCK!!! Hopefully Chris can post the pictures he took of Ebear, Joanne and I wrestling with that yellow and white tent from hell- It had to be amusing watching three people get swallowed by the whole thing for a full 15 minutes without it getting any closer to erected. Thanks all! |

THANK YOU! I needed that... Work has been hectic and wow what an escape. Hanging out with fellow riders and enjoying the BBQ was great. Believe me! I know tri-tip, and that was some GOOD eatin'... Put in a lot of miles on the ride and then had to turn right around and head back to AZ Sun night... Would do it again in a heartbeat! Thank you much for the camaraderie and a wonderful time! |

Behold! The yellow rhombus (or trapezoid) of death! It doesn't look all that imposing or lethal from this angle, but it took a good 30 minutes to wrestle from a slinky spring-loaded pile of cloth on the pavement to the puffy TeleTubby-like erection you see below... This piece of junk (sorry Al!) looks innocent enough in these pictures, but given 10 more seconds, someone would have lost an eye. No instructions, 90 degrees of hot and 3 slightly confused A-Types later... THAT, my friends, is why EZ-Up is in business. Please tell me someone "accidentally" set fire to this sumbitch at the end of the event! I do NOT wish to meet its acquaintance again... Chris |
