Mcelhaney, you are right.. I've heard of folks with very few issues and others with many, like mine. I feel bad that I bought the bike with the right intentions of buying American and what I've been stuck with is far from what I expected. When she runs it's poetry in motion but that poetry has been hit with many misses. Maybe it has something to do with it being Canadian Spec.. |

I've owned 6 of these machines at various times and for various kinds of riding, and my experience with each of them is more or less the same. I think it's a combination of the rider and the tech that works on them that makes all the difference in the world. |

In fairness I think any new bike is going to encounter problems. Over on the S1000rr forum there have been issues with that new bike as well. it was introduced in 09 and if you look back at the old posts there are common issues spreading on that model. The most recent is bike shut down. Bike dies for no reason. Also a no start issue related to the magnetic key. Dealers won't address these since the code isn't stored. They have to see it to believe it. Anyway Im just trying to point out that issues with newer .model bikes arent linked to just one brand and I need to remind myself of that. As bike technology increases with more electronics coupled with outsourced foriegn parts so will issues. 2cents. |

Jonesgw, any update on what caused this problem yet? Just wondering if the large nut holding the counterbalancer gear in place came loose or came off? |

Figorvonbuellingham, From what I have seen on their dealer program page, the bikes will have a 2 year unlimited mile warranty. |

Oops, I stated my last post wrong. What I meant to say is, did the right side crankshaft nut holding the drive gear come loose or come off? Has anyone ever encountered this nut coming loose? I have a loud mechanical noise coming from this area but hope it may just be a loose stator rotor nut on the other side of the crankshaft, transferring noise to the right side of the engine. |

Wanted to give a quick update on this issue. I wrote up an email to the General Manager complaining to the high heavens about how the bike spent more time in their garage than mine since I've had it. (Their records bear that out as well as my relationship with the Mechanic and After Sales Manager)and they were waiting on the Regional Manager to come into town to show him the damage. (From the outside) I went this past weekend and had a chat with the GM and he stated after they open the bike, which hadn't been done yet. They would see what the damage is and depending on that they would give me a range of options. Either purchase the bike from me, one option, give me credit towards the purchase of another (They only sale Harleys). Expect to hear from them this week or next on what the issue is/was at which point I'll update soon as they let me know. Don't expect that when I pay long saved money for a NEW Bike, that my problems would be the same. Many, long drawn out problems that only cost me more money to fix on top of the new purchase price. Anyway, you all feel my pain at times. |

looks very similar to what happened to my 1125. the nut on that side of teh crankshaft backed off and pushed against the water pump/clucth cover and thru that crack, the oil pump discharges. i nearly died. ... that was a bad day if the threads are bunged up on the crank, you might as well replace the engine unless you can get it covered under warranty or if you wanna make a DSB 1125 or an 1190. i could not keep my warranty from being voided sorry to be the bearer of bad news. |

Nillaice, Very similar to your issue. Mechanic said from the looks of it the nut on the right side came a loose somehow which holds the flywheel, oil and water pumps etc. When this nut loosened it caused the timing to be off thus throwing everything on that side of the bike off and out of sync. I could of died to tell you the truth. I see where Suzuki issued a recall for 8 or 9 years worth of GXS-R's hopefully we'll get the same soon. Sorry to keep everyone interested in this issue waiting but didn't want to assume and they just finished pulling it apart. Next, what will HD do about it if anything, I'm standing by.. |

Update sort of.. Had a chance to look at the damage to the inside.. Took some pics when I remember how to UL them again.. The engine is pretty much done.. as stated previously on this board and echoed again by the HD Mech. The nut sure appeared to come loose and the parts were bouncing all over the place from the looks of the inside. Again, I'll try and get the pics uploaded shortly. It's late on my side of the globe. Few of the parts had to be pried apart according to the mech. |

Yep, Screwed.. Anyone looking for used 1125 Parts and pieces please let me know. By the time I replace the engine have it shipped here I could of bought a new bike. Not to mention all the money I've spent replacing Stator, Rotor, VR etc.. Aftermarket pieces etc.. Should of waited before buying this bike. Guess there was a reason it was on deep discount at the HD Dealer.. Lucky me.. |

(I forget the name of the after market one everyone recommends) sorry for your hard luck too... (Message edited by bubba_ on February 09, 2014) |

Forgive me for not going back and reading all the posts. I would escalate my complaint to HD customer service making sure to tell them that you are in Bahrain serving America's interests. I can't imagine the dealer there has any great love or desire to protect your interests. |

The dealer listened to my story the back and forth fixing this and fixing that etc. spending more time in his garage than my own. They wanted to give me $2k towards the price of another HD but I'm not in a position to spend another 10k to replace what I've already spent 9k on and another 3k in fixes etc.. So short answer is no the dealer sin't doing much to help that doesn't include me buying another HD. Dannybuell, you may have a point there.. Thanks Bubba.. |

how does HD get away with this crap. I have been watching the recalls and it seems like anything imported has a problem it gets recalled, problems similar to the 1125s. HD is a cold blooded mother. my friend bought a v rod used for @ 15k. it had alignment and exhaust problems that were under warranty and he still had to work his way up to the executives to get them resolved. IC, fuel pumps, charging systems, rear brakes, motors grenading. I love Buell EBR but I am afraid to ride my bike for fear of it blowing up and not having anything. I put in mod rotor but still need stator. only has 6k miles on it. has spent one summer and a few fall months in shop. Bullshit we have to fix this stuff on a new bike out of our own pockets. |

Mako, Sad but true.. Welcome to my nightmare. It's really been just a tragic turn of events from the beginning. It ran well for three months then all hell broke loose. I bought this bike because it was cheaper than the rest but still performed like the rest, at least for a few months. I'm not a rich guy by any means as I'm sure most folks on this forum aren't however, between what I"ve had to fix so far and now this. Doubt I'll ever buy another American made bike again. I hate to say it, and I've served my country in uniform for 20+ years. OohRah! This whole experience has really left a bad taste in my mouth for how companies do business to say nothing of how they treat their customers after they sell you something. If I ever recover from this financial mess to actually be able to afford something else in the future (Having two young kids now (3&5) with one (22) in college) I guess I'll jump on the Japanese bandwagon or German. Not a matter of if, but when. How many times have I fixed my bike hoping and praying this would be the last time. To say nothing of my wife pleading with me to get rid of it before it brakes again and me wanting to give it one more try. I'm sure more than a few of you know what I mean. Should of listened to her instead of that inner voice telling me this time it's going to work. Sorry for the vent but damn, I'm pissed and out 13k to say nothing of not having anything to ride until who knows when! CHING, CHING.. |
