A while back my GPS unit decided it was time to fall off the bike. The antenna got lost but I retrieved the unit. I went onto ebay looking for a new antenna, there are a bunch?! All seemed reasonably priced is there one that any of you have found better than the others? Thanks, Paul |

Which GPS you have? I'm going to take a guess based on your post and assume you have the Garmin Quest GPS. Looking on ebay, the antenna it uses (GA25MCX) is looking around $25 new for an official Garmin one. The Chinese knockoffs aren't that much cheaper, so I'd stick to the real thing. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m5 70.l1313.TR0.TRC0.XGA+25MCX&_nkw=GA+25MCX&_sacat=0 &_from=R40 |

I've had both the genuine garmin and the chinese knockoffs (3 or 4 different ones), and my luck has been equal. I'd get two or three of the chinese ones and keep a stash of spares. The cables / connectors break after a year or so, and it's easy enough to keep a spare on the bike. Also, if your map data is way out of date, we figured out how to put opensource map data on the quest with no unlock codes or anything. It has a few quirks, but so does the Garmin supplied data. All in all it is at least as good, and more up to date (IMHO). |
