OK, I developed an electrical problem with my XB9SX. The cheap turn signals all quit working, tail light and brake light still good. Removed the offending turn signals and checked the fuses and this is what I found. (BTW, I had disconnected the everything including the ignition switch itself and checked it. It tested good so I re connected it for the demonstration). And in this short video, I am telling a lie. I had not disconnected the instrument cluster. When I do, the fuse stops glowing. Sigh. The fuse does not get hot, it just glows. I'm going over the circuit board in the cluster. I've never seen anything like this before. Oh, the bike will run if I plug everything back in, head lights and tail/brake light works also. I am going to add that everything was working when I left for Bonneville Speed Week. When I got home I rolled the bike out, started it and was going to go for a ride and noticed the turn signals not working. Anyone local have a known good instrument cluster for testing purposes? Man am I ever emarrased!  It seems that Bussman is making a fuse called EZ-ID that has an LED built into it that glows to quickly identify a blown fuse and that is what I had. I had pulled it previously and eyeballed it and it looked fine. Anyway, the mystery is solved. I had never seen one of these before and it had me believing current was flowing. I am now hiding in my garage, door closed and may not come out for weeks. | ||
