Responded there - looks like the auction went down over a year ago. And, lke I said, I know that bike, can confirm it is from Arlen's collection. The owner before Arlen used to ride a Buell to the Redwood Run back in the 90s. I can't recall the first owners name - want to say maybe Randy, but I remember he worked for Mike Brown, who was a big customer of Arlen's - Mike Brown commissioned the "Pepsi Bike". I recall the original owner was pretty hot to sell it back in the day - we were in the same bike club, and he and I did some back and forth, but he ultimately sold it to Arlen and it ended up in the museum. The write up is wrong - I am almost positive it was a 4 speed |

My apologies for putting up a sale that's not current. Still, I enjoyed looking at the pics and then finding out thru your reply that the Ness story was true. All good stuff! |

And I went to look at the bike when that auction was current. Yes, it was a 4-speed and the bike was much rougher than those photos indicate. I suspect it had been damaged in one way or another and some of the bodywork was not original. Things just did not fit as tightly as on my '91 Westwind. Not a bad bike but--IMO--not worth what it eventually sold for. |

A bit of extra trivia - Randy had already replaced it with a burgundy 5 speed RS when he was selling it. He was a private jet pilot - apparently that pays pretty well. |
