Hi all. Very long story in which I'll spare the details for now. This past march I was practically given a 03 XB9 from a generous multiple Buell owner, but cam with the caveat of an unknown history. Smashcut to early June, and said XB9's motor turned into a grenade. The rear piston literally exploded into a million pieces, destroying the head, dropping chunks into the case and bending a con rod. I am still figuring out if it's better to fix or replace (still have not even thought of parting it out, I want this bike on the road...) My engine based mechanical skills would be rated at a 3 out of 10, very little experience outside of adjusting valves, sparkplugs, cam chain adjusts, etc. Sooooo..... I need an engine. And I hate to say it, but it'll need to be on a budget. oorrrrrrr.... a bottom end, and a rear head. (I have since aquired a set of clean, used barrels and pistons...)along with a gasket set, a maunal and a lot of advice . Thanks for hearing me out and look forward to some good, hard earned advice out there!! tom z. |

I've seen "good" engines going for $1800 on fleabay. "Good" as described by the seller. Are there any on Badweb being parted out? |
