So did the ECM relocate. But not sure I am getting same (desired) results as those seen the pics ive seen here (from others). Here is mine
It appears others are somehow getting the ECM further down between the battery tray and shock reservoir? Not sure how that is possible as there isnt any room to do this on my bike... strange. Also, isnt there any concern about the back of the ECM resting/pushing on the shock reservoir? Did the play dough test and its not hitting and as I cut off the old bracket there is no turning back now |

Well after relocating my ECM and being less than confident that it is seated nicely.. I started doing more research and came upon this nice to know info posted sometime back by "Froggy" "It was basically non-issue on the 06's due to the smaller ECM and thick seat. After they came out with lower seats, they saw it as an issue, and then came out with the spacer blocks which for the most part eliminated the issue. The 08's have a larger ECM, so now the block isn't as effective as before. For what its worth, look in the archives, it was a non existant issue up till a few months ago. This one cropped up out of nowhere a year after the last Uly rolled off the assembly line." Its a little too late for me (cut the old mount).. but in the event anyone else has an 06 Uly and the ECM is in the place it was designed to be. Best advice - LEAVE IT ALONE |

I've been following all threads on this subject since '07 because my ecm cracked while still under warranty. It was fixed by a dealership along with some other issues and it took a long time. To this day I can't see anything different with the mount but the seat does not make contact. Odd. |

Which seat are you running? My comments in that post were regarding the 06 seat. Many 06 owners are running the 07+ seat or a similar low seat, which seems to flex more. While all the OEM seats shared the same pan, the Tall seat that came stock on 06s did a better job of spreading the load. Doing a relocation was a good thing regardless, better safe than sorry. Keep an eye on it and see if you get any signs of rubbing, and then tweak the setup as needed. |

I have both the original seat and the lower (stock) seat. I checked both using the playdough test and neither were (or now are) making contact. Probably didnt "hurt" anything to relocate but most likely would have been fine for another 8 years (or more). Im getting the feeling that I may be buying into "fear". While I have no doubt that some have problems with: ECM and seat Bearings Ground wires 77 connector and I am a firm believer in preventative maintenance and preventing fires as opposed to putting them out... I will most likely leave my 8 year old motorcycle as is. Short of finding any real and present signs of trouble (i.e. signs of bearings wearing out when I mount new tires) Opinions may vary (Message edited by BigMe007 on October 23, 2013) |

I didn't relocate my ECM on my 07, I just went in there and bent the bracket so the connectors point a little more down, then put two layers of sleeping bag ground pad foam on top of the body of the ECM, and left the factory spacer block on there. It passes the play-doh test to make sure the plugs are never hit by the seat on both the low seat and the high seat (I have both). |

One thing that tends to be overlooked is the impact that temperature has on the seat/ECM interference problem. My issues started on my 08 when I was riding in some high-90s (F) temperatures. When it gets really hot, the plastic in the seat apparently flexes more. |
