Heard a squeaking noise from my front end on my 98 S3T on the way home tonight.Stopped to check the wheel bearings, felt OK. Continued on and soon after the speedo quit. Checked the speedo cable, all was fine so the speedo drive gearbox must have gone tits up. Is there a common (Harley) gearbox that was used? Is one still available from Buell? If so what is the part#? Will have wheel pulled tomorrow to make sure that was the problem. |

Same year sportster gear will do the trick. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bikers-Choice-Speedometer- Drive-Unit-74072S1-Harley-Davidson-/190782565854?p t=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ASport ster%7CYear%3A1995&hash=item2c6b86edde&vxp=mtr#ht_ 5216wt_975 Probably any HD dealer has one in stock. |

Yes, and when they ask about your bike don't mention Buell, just tell them it's a chopper with a lot of '98 sportster parts on it. That way you won't get the blank stare. |

Yeah, or told that they don't have Buell parts. Might help to wear something with tassels to make your lie a bit more believable |
