heck is up with these Buell saddle bags for the R models. I purchased a pair, read "Not Cheap", and had one he!! of a time trying to put them on. The mounting bracket is a piece of cake. Then all you do is slide the bag over the bracket and rotate. Now you have two straps, one bags straps has hooks, the other velcro ( both parts) You slip the strap with velcro through the hook, double back, and mate the velcro....... If the strap was LONG enough!.... Okay, I'm good at red neck engineering, so I manage to make them work, ( some tape, and pins, no problem) Now, for the really curious question... WHY DOES THE ZIPPER OPEN from the BOTTOM of the Bag??? No they are not upside down, the style ( and logo ) pretty much prevent that. I am using them, and I like the way they look, but I hate opening them and holding my hand underneath to prevent things from falling out./.. Am I missing something hear? |

Zipper on the bottom = dry??? If they are easy to take off maybr you take them off and then take gear out. |

Thanks for letting us know that, sorry you had to experience that, but now I know not to order them until that is fixed or I find something better. |

Jab -- You have to CROSS the straps! If you don't they are NOT long enough...it's in the directions...that I didn't read either... If you cross them, the straps reach perfectly. Be CAREFUL with the clear tape. If you don't put it in the right place and some dirt/rocks get caught in between, it will EAT UP your rear tail piece...ask me how I know. The zipper direction is, as you suggest, pretty ' stupid. I've lost stuff right out of the bottom. Chris |

I thought I tried the cross strap deal, still too short, but I'll look again. As for the tape strips, I didn't like the look when I removed the bags, so I took them off. I wrapped the straps w/ remnants of HD soft cloth, seems to work at not marking up the finish. I like the look of the bags, but they are awkward to use |

Eclipse makes generic sportbike bags that are bigger, fit well, and cost half as much. Hell I got mine new off eBay for a quarter what the Buell bags cost. www.eclipseluggage.com |

I use the saddlebags from my Lightning X1. They work well and are huge compared to the XB bags. |
