Hi all, I may have changed a setting on ECM Spy and can't figure out which one it was.. DOH!!!!!.. It did it before but now wont give a real time update of what's happening, I have to check trouble codes to get it to read the settings on board.. Anyone know what setting I need to change ??? TIA . |

I would find it much easier to show you. There is a lot you could have done wrong. First,so that we are on the same planet. What version of EcmSpy are you using? |

1.12.26... I'll spend some time with it later but I don't have much time at the moment and thought I'd see if there might be something simple that others have found. |

1.12.27 was last freebee version. I can only imagine the later was an improvement on previous. 1.Connect the cable "before" you open EcmSpy program. 2.Open EcmSpy select Communication option, auto detect, follow prompts. Got port.Sweet, next step 3. Failed connection, check ignition on/ kill switch set to run, cable connection, "Neutral gear" ect. 3.Online/offline (keys).twist accelerator to confirm. 4. fetch EEPROM from ECM. This takes a minute. 5.trouble codes.Clear any old codes first and then run tests and then check current codes.. To do the ignition timing you need to select Top gear to turn motor. When in Gear clutch out side stand down the ignition cuts out.you need to depress the side stand switch. I have a 30mm wide x 100mm long (3/4" x 4") wedge purpose built. oK, thanks.. the issue was the online/offline toggle.. All good now. Now I'm back to chasing an off idle issue where it wont run properly AFTER I do a TPS reset.. That one I'll play with.. . |

Yeah I know. They only use the Scanalyzer and follow the manual anyway.. I used to do the same thing when I was at the dealership but I never worked on many Buells as there was only a couple in town back then. Now I have to do a search and try and find some race maps so I have a decent starting point, rather than try and change all the parrameters in the stock map. If I can try a few and find something that's close then I only have to fine tune it, this stock one feels a bit lean through a lot of the range. . |

Thanks for your help Alf, I'm getting around it fine.. I have to toggle offline/online every time I open it, as I first said, I was missing something simple that was particular to this software.. I expected it to default to online, it doesn't, it defaults to offline. I've used other types of EFI software, just not familiar with ECM Spy and it's subtleties. Just tried to flash some different maps in but they're not compatible with this ECM, so it looks like I might just print off the other maps and figure out where I need to change fuel and ignition. Which is what I was hoping to cheat with.. I can work it out from riding but that takes time aswell. . |
