Buell 2000 M2 Cyclone
Well, did some modifications on the cv 40 carb yesterday... putting the drill away this morning, realized I had drilled the hole in the vacuum slide to 9/64" (0.140").
Most are recommending 7/64".

The mods were:
> Drill out vacuum (oops)
> Raise Needle 0.050"
> New intake gaskets
Prior Modifications:
> #45 Idle Jet #200 Main Jet already installed
> 2 1/2 Turns Out A/F mixture
Only other mods to bike are V & H slip on and Force Winder intake.

Took it for a short ride yesterday, it ran better, I had made these changes due to it being too lean just off idle.

I ordered a new slide this morning off of Amazon...

I believe you drill out the vacuum slide for faster slide response. I can't tell any difference. Any input?

Yeah, don't drill any holes, just rejet.

Took it out for about a 30 minute drive today, and the bike carbureted great. I am not sure about mileage yet, but the lean spot off idle is gone. The throttle response seems fine. Don't know if I will put the new slide in it or not... if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I learned from this experience that the special intake manifold wrench was not all that useful. I had made a set of stubby allen wrenches when I got into changing out the rocker cover gaskets, I cut off about 3/8" off the short end on the 1/4" allen, and that seemed more useful the custom wrench. Also, after the fact I read that there are two different intake mount flanges, (front and rear). Good info, I was fortunate that I had kept them straight. Pulling the carb off took me about 3-4 hours, I am sure that it could be less if I did it again
