Took the M2 to work today, the battery felt a little low but it started so off I went. After work it almost cranked but failed on me. Charged the battery and now I get a loud CLUNK every time the clutch goes around. I have a service manual. Any words of warning before I pull the primary cover?? Thanks |

Drain the fluid first? Sounds like the primary adjuster shoe has lodged a chunk of itself in the chain. Drive sprocket nut, right hand thread: clutch hub retaining nut, left hand thread. |

You may want a gasket on hand. Also, you can remove little viewing port (forward of the derby cover) to see if the shoe is still present. |

the tensioner was in six pieces instead of two, other than that all looks ok. Now to find that parts manual . . .

Dang! Not many original tensioners left on this earth. The updated part has a backplate twice as thick. Make sure you find all the pieces of the old backplate (they could be hiding in the stator bell magnets). |

parts will be here in SEVEN LONG DAYS, ordered from the local dealership. Meanwhile I'll be getting all the grime off the cover cases etc. Non-flash degreaser does a pretty good job |
