Bike is an '03 XB9S, has approx. 26k miles. It needs a main transmission seal replacement plus a few other bits. My thought is that it costs a small fortune to break it open, what else could the shop replace while it's open? Thoughts? Thanks in advance! |

If it was a 12, I'd say new crank and new style beefier crank bearing. But I don't think the 9 needs it. Obviously, check all the dogs, forks, and debur the shift drum. I think 2nd gear is generally the one that goes, so if you wanted to be really conservative you could just replace that pair and maybe even that fork for under $300... maybe even recouping a third of that selling the good but used pulls on ebay. |

Do you have to split the case to replace the output seal? |
