Hello.. I just put a drummer ss and a EBR race ecm on my 08 XT. After I installed the drummer and ecm, I did the tps reset, bike hase been running good. I just got my open air cleaner and kit from American sport bike, I installed and went for a ride, bike seems to have less power and running hotter. When I turn the throttle I hear a whistle, If I hold it at a certain postion I can maintain the noise. Any ideas what I could have done to cause this? Thanks for any input |

Is the ECM programmed to work with the open air cleaner kit? |

Yes when I ordered it I asked for the drummer ss and an open air cleaner kit. Maybe is just the sound that's throwing me off, I don't know. Took the air cleaner kit off today to inspect everything, put it back together and went for a good run today. No codes, wasn't backfiring, ran well just seems go flat at 3/4 throttle. I took my 2000 s3t out today as well and it seemed to have more power so I don't think its all in my head. Just can figure how an open air cleaner kit would cost you power, seems odd. |

I have no experience with this setup, but could it be possible that the power curve just moved to a different place on the tach? It may be that the map just doesn't really work for your particular bike. That happens sometimes. |

Buewulf..Yea I was kinda thinking something along those lines. Would be nice if there were other options out there that could be tuned on a dyno. Id like to take it in and get it tuned but not wanting to fork out another 500 on buell cable and software. Ill just keep riding it for now. Thanks for the input |

Try riding it at a constant rpm for 20 minutes or so, over 3000 rpm. The ECM might just need to adjust to the intake. Sounds like you're going lean and the ECM needs to learn. It won't learn unless the throttle is steady for a long time. If that doean't work the ECM just can't adjust that far out of it's parameters. At that point the ECM will have to be programmed differently. |

Sounds like an air filter leak ... |

Tootal, I will take it out for a ride tomorrow and try what you are suggesting. I put open air filters and aftermarket pipes on other bikes ive had before and if it was lean they would be popping on decal badly. Conchop..what part of what I have described sounds like an air filter leak?c |

The whistle you described sounds like an open filter to me. I heard a lot more intake "honk" when I switched to a K&N and open inner box on my Uly... |

Ratbuell... yes you sure do here a lot more with the K&N and the open air box. Ive heard and been able to maintain the whistle with the filter on or off so I think that rules out an air leak. |

Hello all. Very interesting info here. Fantastic source of buell info. I have a 07 uly that displayed ecm issues. So i bought a new ecu on ebay. When it arrived, I installed it but did not work. Bike start for a few seconds and die. Is it possible to require a ecm programming? Both ecm have the jumper in the middle. My bike has no acm, so i made an emulator to stop code 21 from ecm. It is not quite working, but i don't think this is making the bike to die. Any other ideas? |
