I have my fuel pump out to fix the insulation chafing. How do you get the shrink tubing onto the wire? Desolder at the feedthru? or does the wires unplug at the feedthru. Also the four allen head bolts that hold the pump in came out almost like they were seizing or had red lock tite on them. I used some heat from a heat gun and it helped some. Did anyone else have this problem? Bolts were steel going into alum. Change bolts to stainless steel? Just use some anti seize? Thanks | ||

My bolts had a thread locker on them, just clean the threads and put a little lock tite on them. The wires..... I got new matching male or female ends to replace the original ones. Cut'em off close at the ends, slide the heat shrink on, heat them in place and replace the ends. Zip tie them to where they cannot rub. I did mine one at a time to remove any confusion about ends. Make sure to use a vasoline type grease on the two big o rings. They can cut easily on re-installation. | ||

I got it at the honda shop 1/4" I think, its that translucent yellow stuff | ||

Did they say it's rated for gasoline? Might be a good idea to test the fuel line yourself and see if it deteriorates. | ||

I think what you guys are looking for is Tygon tubing. It can handle the ethanol and heat. | ||

Well after hunting all over Vacaville no one has Tygon brand except the mower shop but not in the 1/4" OD. I guess I will try for the 5/16" OD today. | ||

I'm not sure how big Vacaville is but I can buy Tygon Brand at the small Hardware Hank in the neighboring small town of Kasson. I know that doesn't do ya much good, too far to drive. Some NAPA stores carry it too. I can also buy fuel line that is made of the same material but a different brand right in my small town of Byron at ACE Hardware. Have you tried your local hardware store? | ||

Tried our hardware store that has everything. They had fuel line but the inside diameter was way to small. I called a place in Dixon next town to the east and he has it. Going there in a little while. Vacaville is has about 100,000 people but it never has had good supplies of stuff when you need it. | ||

Found some 5/16 OD tygon tubing. Reinstalled pump and working good. The two O-rings on the fuel pump are very difficult to get in without pinching. It took three tries to get it. | ||
