Uly Riders, I have a 2009 and a 2006 Ulysses with ALMOST a full set of luggage for both. Unfortunately my 2009 Uly is missing the Top Case Mounting bracket (Item # 2, 3 and all the mounting hardware, but I can get that easily). As you may know you can't find the Buell luggage mounts anymore from HD. I have searched the interwebs and have had no luck finding a Uly top case bracket mount.
Look what I found today...a Hepco Becker case compatible Buell Ulysses Rear Rack for sale at motomachines.com! Has anyone installed this on their Uly? I already have the stock side cases so I assume this will mount just fine w/out interference with my Uly side case mounts. I have the needed Buell/Hepco Becker top case. http://www.motomachines.com/Rear-Rack-BUELL-Ulysses_p_3296.html Description (no picture unfortunately): The Rear Rack is a fixed rack bolted on to the rear of your bike allowing you to attach any top case offered by Hepco & Becker. Every Rear Rack is custom designed for each individual model bike. Racks are attached to the motorcycle through the existing strong points on the sub-frame of the motorcycle. These racks are made of high quality steel tubing finished in black, silver or chrome. All racks are relatively easy to install and come with the required hardware and installation instructions. Questions for my Uly comrades: 1). Let me know if anyone has bought and installed this Hepco Becker Rear Rack on their Uly. My other option.... 2). Do you have a stock Uly Topcase mounting bracket in your parts stash that you want to sell? I'd be happy to purchase to get my 2009 Uly fully luggage capable. I have a big trip to San Diego coming in July and will need the side case and the top case. Thanks for any info you can provide on the Hepco Becker Ulysses rear rack, OR for finding a Buell OEM Topcase mount I can buy. I bought and installed a Hepco Becker top rack on my Ulysses last year. Mine came from http://www.amotostuff.com/ not sure if they still carry it or not, I'd give them a shout. Or any other Hepco Becker distributor. The Hepco Becker part number for the Ulysses top rack is 650799 0101 (Message edited by Yan on May 04, 2013) |

Can you run the top case without having the side cases? |

Advoutlander, You can use only the Top Case without the side cases if you like. Yan and Murf2, Thanks for your information. I ordered the Hepco & Becker rack from motomachines.com. Good to know I have Surdyke as a backup plan for the OEM Buell Parts. I prefer not to give any money to HD anymore since HD makes such poor long term business decisions. Ride Safe, Marc |

No you can not. The side racks are needed to properly share the load from the top case. |

I've got a (gently) used top case rack (Item #2 from the illustration above), that I'd be willing to let go. It's the original one off my '08 XB12XT. Send me a PM if you're interested, 1313 |

To clarify Froggy's post...you can run the top case without the side cases...but you must have the side case RACKS in place to distribute the weight load of the topcase. They triangulate the weight to the passenger peg mounts. Think diving board. Don't run a topcase without side case racks. |

Hmmm.... Same issue, need just the top rack for my 06... I have the complete luggage set, even the lower cross bar, but missing the bracket itself for the top bag and these links are lo longer active.... Guess I will have to try those part numbers with HD. |
