My clutch actuator was replaced around 8k miles ago, and now it's leaking again. Should I go to the dealer, as I have extended warranty and replace it there (cost $50), or should I buy EBR kit (cost $100 + shipping) and replace it myself? The puck paint was also damaged by the brake fluid and is peeling. (Message edited by yugi on March 11, 2013) |

If it was replaced under the extended warranty, it should not cost you to have it fixed AGAIN |

The OEM stuff will fail again. I like the EBR part. I could do the job myself in under and hour. It's not a difficult job. |

I asked the dealer if they would install the EBR if I bought and were doing the warranty work anyway. They were o.k. with it, but obviously that was the last time and no further warranty on the clutch. Only had a few months left anyway. |

Go EBR. The factory crap is just that CRAP. Don't waist your time having the dealer put that crap back in. The $100 is worth every cent. |

The dealer told me that they will install the part from EBR, because it's cheaper than OEM, charge the warranty for the OEM part, and give me a difference. |

An excellent result and it would seem that you have an sensible Dealer but is it wise to put this on a public forum? Similar common sense things have been done like this in the UK and the MoFuCo take a very dim view of it. Just a thought |

MoFuCo has nothing to do with it. It's covered by extended warranty |

So it was installed yesterday. They also replaced clutch cover puck. As usual, I've got Softail Slim as a loaner. They installed EBR part, and not only I didn't pay deductible, but I've got $97 store credit, and used it to buy a spare belt. Incredible service from the dealer this time!
