I just got my 96 S1 from a fellow member. I was putzing around with the bike doing various jobs on it, and decided to pop the Odyssey battery he gave me with the bike, into the space reserved for the battery. That was the plan, anyhow. Way too big. So, I just so happen to have a VR battery, go to install it in, no go, still too big. So what gives? I'm confused as ever. |

S1s used a battery that was smaller than all other Buells and eventually they offered a kit to modify the battery tray to accept a Buell Blast battery. It involved relocating the voltage regulator to make more room. I chose not to use the adapter kit and found a small gel battery that fits in the original tray. The battery you received with the bike may be sized for the adapter kit. |

Ah HA! That explains it. Where was the regulator moved to or was it simply repositioned? |

Better yet, Tombo, what battery did you use? |

Beardo, that is the replacement kit you linked to. The battery I am using is from WestCo but you may also find an Oddysy replacement that fits since they did actually make the original (I went by measurements). |
