Is there a better battery when new just does have enough to crank my 2008 lightning

The battery is most likely not the issue. Check your grounds. To be sure, connect a car battery with good cables, not jumper cables, and see if it still turns over too slow.

Interstate makes a fine battery which works great on my S3 and my 120 c.i. monster softtail.
