After running for anywhere fron 30 to 60 minutes the engine will stop/cutout for just a few seconds to needs key off and restart. sometimes there is a backfire from the exhaust, that makes me think its not fuel related. Checked the ECM and there are no codes present. There is a second problem that dose not seem to be related, that is the clock goes to12:00 and the trips reset to "0". I have checked all the usual suspects like loose cables or bad grounds all seem well??? WTF?? |

I think you are on the right track re grounds. The fact that you have to reset the ign key tells me you are losing electrical power. This is confirmed by the clock and odo resetting. Given you have a 12X, a careful check of the ECM would be in order. Look for cracks, especially around the connectors. Hope this helps, Dave |

The cut out followed by a backfire without any trouble codes can point to the crank position sensor, but the "have to reboot the bike" thing sounds like a bank angle sensor. Or just cracked wires / broken grounds. I had a cracked wire around the steering head, and if you moved the bars it would bring it back sometimes. So I could have lead myself to believe it was rebooting the bike when it was really just moving the bars so I could reach the ignition switch. |

If your cable grounds and battery connections are all good, your ignition switch itself is suspect. The fact that it waits until it is warm before failing points to it rather than the wiring. |
