I read about this method on this site. It was posted by RAH7777. I didn't see any videos on any of the sites, so as I was doing what RAH suggested I recorded it. Thanks for the tip RAH. No money spent for tools not needed. Awesome. I should point out there is some editing of the video, but the entire process of getting both bearings out took no more than 10 minutes tops and I should also note based on the feedback I got from several viewers that the use of a screwdriver amounts to "tool abuse". Well, it was at hand so I used it. Bottom line is getting bearings out is no problem, and the new ones went right back in easy as snot. Just put a piece of hardwood over them and lightly tapped them home. Front wheel now runs smooth and quite as it should. Will also note, that I installed SKF bearings instead of going back to Buell parts. Cost Canadian was $26 a piece. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGkb3k3rRL0 (Message edited by bikenut on May 30, 2011) |
