I am looking really hard at putting XB wheels and brakes on my S1 Project. I know there are several threads on the subject, i,e. Serialk's and Purpony's project bikes. So... Besides looking really nice, what are the pros and cons? Can I mount a wider tire and still stay with a belt? Can I run X1 triples with XB legs? Any guidance, instruction, or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

You get the benefit of the cool ZTL brake, along with a 5.5" rear wheel to run a 180 rear tire. Same setup though if you have PM wheels, which the rear is also 5.5". Belt works fine with a 180 tire. You can fit 03-04 XB forks in X1 triples, but you need to either use clip ons or tall bar spacers. Im very happy with the XB wheels on my bike! |

I think they look all wrong on a tuber, and although it weighs more, I prefer dual rotors. |

Sorry I haven't chimed in in a while. Been super busy. The XB rims in my opinion are badass. The ZTL brake just looks mean. I used 03 forks in my X1 triples. you could use xb triples with an X1 stem pressed in or stock xb triples with a spacer to compensate for the space. (XB triples have a longer stem) There are a few ways of doing the front. each method has its pros and cons. The rear is pretty straight forward. -spacers. Should have some time over the next few weeks to work on my X1 and post up some pictures. My rear end is like 60% done and I just mounted my Vrod headlight. On a side note... I was able to sell my PM rims for $500 which helped fund my wheel swap |
