Fullpower, Just a standard data entry response. Go into any McDonalds and first tell the order taker that your order is to go, then tell them what you want. Their final question will always be "is this for here or to go" even though you told them it was to go to begin with. |

what mike said. almost every car GM produced in the last 15-20 years uses the same oil filter number, but call a parts store for one, and they will ask what year. so? |

ok so he was trained that way, my bad. for REAL humour i would follow my brother in law in to HD while he asked for a pair of spark plugs for a 1976 FLH. you would not believ how far afield the parts guys would go trying to "help" him. "oh do ya want the screamin eagle ones?" or "is that an 80 inch" |

but an interesting aside: the service dept took back a xb9r, and they had a traded in xb12s, and for giggles they took the primary drive chain and sprockets off the 9 and put them in the 12. there are burnouts, and smiley faces all over the parking lot, and the tech says it does easy third gear wheelies.it will wheelie second gear at 1100 rpm IDLE speed just crack the throttle, and you are looking at the sky. |

When you work with a parts computer, you always have to give it the year before the model. Even if I know the damn part number off the top of my head I still have to punch in the year. Course if I know it doesn't matter what year I will put one in without asking...and honestly for an oilfilter and clutch cable '03 on will cover it. |

daves: they had the filter, also had the belt tensioner pulley that i ordered last month. they dont yet have the clutch cable that i ordered last week. thanks for asking, my general strategy is to buy as many Buell parts as possible at the local shop for the following reasons 1) each part i buy at the local counter adds a single unit of Buell brand familiarity to the HD parts counter person. 2)each Buell part i buy increases the small chance that i may find an additional Buell part in stock at a later date. 3) prices are reasonable, and they dont charge any freight on special orders. if i get in a big rush, i will call you for parts, so far i have managed to buy parts in advance of breakage, so i have them in stock before i need them. |

so far i have managed to buy parts in advance of breakage, so i have them in stock before i need them. I do the same thing and have found that scrounging through the dealers tent sales and clearance tables on a regular basis provide me with a good selection of parts and very low prices. Pity the poor guy that buys my X1. He will need a truck just to haul the spares. LOL |
