Here's what we have in print so far:

We have Erik quoted in the Sept. 11, 2012 edition of Cycle News saying: "My key focus short term is the consulting business, the motorcycle production, the racing business, and developing new models- we have the SX, the AX and the RX all under development, and we'll be getting ready to reveal these pretty soon."

And we have EBR vice president of sales and marketing Jim Dorman quoted at Motorcycle & Powersports News stating: "This is just the beginning. EBR is launching three new platforms in 2013 — an R version, a Street Fighter and an Adventure series. These three new models will be based upon the EBR-designed and developed 1190cc liquid-cooled twin and will be priced under $19,000. “We are committed to developing a wide variety of platforms in the coming years”.

Court has intimated that there's more info lurking around on the internet- a few weeks ago I found a letter to the NTHSA from EBR explaining their planned VIN scheme; search and you can find the link. Anybody else got anything?

Two 1190's epa certified as of 8/28 this year. Equal power engines. The RX and SX?

Good to hear he's got a Uly replacement, along with the obvious "R" and " S" replacements... Can't wait to see them!

I went back and looked at that listing; both are specifically listed as 1190RS models, so apparently they're NOT the new EBR bikes. One's 1193cc and the other is 1191cc, which is kind of interesting.

Hm. I wonder if I stumbled across a different page than you did (don't ask me how). Engine size both listed as 1193, and in the model line where the other brands had names it just said "new." Under power, both had 131 kw (I think). Well, anyway looks like things are moving along.

My self-interested perspective is that they ought to send the new models along to NOLA.

Larry- maybe you did. I found the data here:

http://www.epa.gov/oms/crttst.htm

The data is in big Excel spreadsheets that can be downloaded; there's one for 2012 on-road motorcycles and another for 2013's. I don't see a listing for EBR on the 2013 models, but the 2012 listing has the 1193 and 1191 cc 1190RS's listed. Did you find another document?

I'll have to chase it some more tonight when I get home. I didn't see the main directory when I was searching. My wife says I don't listen sometimes too, so possible I have trouble reading as well. Hell to get old.

Interesting that nothing under 2013 though. Looking at 2011, 2012 articles on the web, said EBR intended to release 900 bikes in 2013. Was searching under EBR dealers.

Don't we have any Badwebbers near East Troy? Surely these bikes are being road tested by now. We need spy shots!

That's exactly what I'm thinking!!

I've read that the bikes have been tested and sorted already, dammit we can get nude pics of royalty but no spy photos of an EBR??

WHAT GIVES?!!!

A careful reading of some motorcycle publications dropped some VERY interesting hints about the past, which are in turn very interesting potential hints towards the future.

I'm cautiously optimistic that I will see a direct injected two stroke. Probably not first gen (that will be a street version of the 1190), but maybe as the second gen of new EBR bikes.

If it just won't work, then don't do it. But if it can work I *so* much want it! If anyone can do it, EBR can. And if a bunch of ex Toyota engineers now working for Hyundai did at least part of it in a car...

Who wouldn't want a 400 pound Uly that makes 135 HP and gets 50 MPG? I wouldn't even mind that it ended up a parallel twin.

IIRC, Chrysler was originally planning a 2-stroke for the Neon when it came out. The engine would have used a separate Roots blower rather than crankcase scavenging which allowed a conventional, 4-stroke type oiling system which helped with emissions.

If anybody can pull it off, EBR can.

"I'm cautiously optimistic that I will see a direct injected two stroke."

I believe that could be quite possible Bill and might just be a smaller 250-400cc
single or twin in either a dirt or street version for HERO's marketing overseas which, of course, we would probably have available also. I just watched a moto 3 MotoGP race on television and they were making some unreal H.P. The winners average speed was around 210 kph, whatever that equals in mph but pretty respectable. Aren't those just 250 cc bikes?

I can really see a whole new beginning of a company (EBR) with a whole spectrum of models with great sales, and then will be competing for podiums every race and maybe even venues other then AMA. Its just the beginning folks. YA!

Do the AMA rules even cover a direct injected two stroke? I'm guessing the 1190 motor would remain their "race engine".

Those are 4-strokes.

I was in Sao Paulo, Brazil this summer and there were droves of courier motorcycles on the streets. The great majority of them were 125 to 250 4-strokes. They must have less restrictions on vehicles there because I saw a lot of strange vehicles there that we're not allowed to have because of the EPA. Now if in their liberal society they don't have 2-strokes on the street do you think we will have them?

I sure hope I"m wrong because it would be great to have a lightweight, high HP bike.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm dying for some EBR news (must be the cooler weather or something). Digging back through some recent threads, Court had this to say in one thread about the upcoming models:

quote:

In doing so, many have overlooked the current activity right under their nose. I, frankly, have been somewhat surprised that, as the Rotax, HERO, HD and BRP dialogues rage, that no one has asked . . . ."hey, wait. . . . if 40+ of the best engineers in the industry are working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for the past 25 months . . where is the output? There MUST be something going somewhere . . ."

That sounds like a pretty big hint to me. So the engineers at EBR are working and are apparently producing SOMETHING we should be able to find. What is it? There's a recent story on various Indian newspaper sites that Hero will be producing their first non-Honda designs next year, so apparently EBR has produced some significant part of that.

Is there something else we should be looking for? Maybe there's a separate company for their consulting work? Any ideas?
