As I am now way out of warranty I am looking for a non-dealer service provider. Any suggestions in the SF Bay Area? South and East Bay preferred. |

Firstbeull - Thanks. I live in Pleasanton so Livermore works. I bought from McGuire but had most of my service done in Fremont. I *hated* Dron, so taking it to Oakland creeps me out, even though it now the Fremont guys. |

sounds good - hope the end result is also OK RE: McGuire's - nice folks; are they still a registered, parts-ordering Buell dealer? I know zero about their Service Dept RE: Oakland [decidedly NOT Dron's....] go see Mike, the owner/Mgr/whatever - he attended lotsa ASBN mtgs when it was Fremont & he's a straight shooter or interview the Service Mgr about his Buell tech[s] - essential advice for ANY dealer service! Actually, one of the techs in Fremont was from Santa Cruz and he's the one that fixed my dying problem. Maybe he move to the Oakland store as well? Forget his name, Josh or something like that. Livermore is associated with San Jose Harley. I ordered some parts in SJ and they have it order by Livermore and them shipped to SJ (not a Buell authorized parts dist). |

Not much of a wrencher here. Took my '06 Uly to Oakland HD yesterday for the 20k, based on my moto-buddies' experience with them (he rides a Road King). Was told that the service manager was a certified Buell tech and they had another guy as well. Good customer service so far; attentive, no attitude, answered all my questions, stowed my riding gear, ride to BART, very clean shop. Will follow up here Sat. when I pick it up. |

What did they do for the 20k? Did they follow a service manual recommendation or kind of go on their own? Did you ask for anything specific? I'm about to do my 20k too. |

Still in process. Seems straight from the checklist, plus the usual recommendations based on visual inspections ("Those brake pads look a little thin." "No thanks."). The guy who processed me isn't a Buell guy, so I assume that's all he had to go by at that time. Got a call tonight saying they recommended flushing the brake fluid and replace the beginning-to-stick exhaust valve actuator and I gave the go ahead for that. It's all more than I want to pay, but not more than I'm willing to so they have their price points about perfect. I've done my own farkles, changed the oil in the swingarm and the like, am likely to install the EBR race ECM once I study the TPS reset process. Have a local guy I trust for tires and other minor stuff. He noticed that the pulley had been installed backward, which none of the techs had noticed at McGuire HD. I'll see when I ride the Uly home whether I can calm my natural desire to dis HD. These guys are trying hard to keep me as a customer, which neither Golden Gate HD (defunct) or McGuire ever did. |

Got a call yesterday at 5:30 p.m. that it was mostly ready but not cleaned which was too late in the day for me to come pick it up. The work took three days, with the tech gone unexpectedly Friday. Because of the holiday weekend they're shorthanded. They gave me a new air filter for free because the shop foreman had one sitting around. While wiping down the bike, a tech said the license plate light broke off by lightly touching it so they ordered another and are shipping it to me directly. Front pads were about 45%, so glad I didn't drink the Koolaid from the initial visual inspection. So, I'd give Oakland Harley a 10 for communication, a 9 for completeness of work and a 6 for finishing on time. I'll go back if/when I need a servicing done at a dealer and time is not an issue. |

Arkabee - THanks for the update. WIll be taking it there for service shortly. I was holding off to see if scrubbing my front rotor would mitigate the pulsing so I didn't have to order an EBR Rotor and kit. An SOS pad and 30 mins of elbow grease did the trick so off for service. |

Good to see your post. I am due for a maintenance service, i have been just changing primary and swingarm oil(Mobil 20/50 full synthetic) myself since i bought my 2007 Uly (xb12x). I am happy so far. Not sure if i have to run to livermoore or oakland HD this time. I have 8K in odo. What you suggest? Also i have heard about metaldragon in hayward and heard good about this guy - see (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Metal-Dragon-Harley- Davidson-Specialist/149174328441893) |
