Hello Everyone, A couple months ago I noticed my headlights on my XB9 flickering at night, they would be fine then dim then dim some more to the point it would be very difficult to see, then go back to normal on and off every-time I ride. I figured this was something normal so that other vehicles could see me, then last week I was on my way to work and my Check engine light comes on all of a sudden and the engine starts skipping or knocking. Then the check engine light goes off and the bike runs fine. Later that night on my way back from work the light problem starts up again and then as the light gets really low the check engine light comes on and the knocking/skipping problem happens again. On and off randomly. I haven't ridden the bike in a couple weeks and was hoping to get some feedback. I believe its an electrical problem but I have no idea where to start (first bike owned) |

As always, check your battery cables for clean, tight connections. And wiggle the cable ends themselves; just because the bolt is tight doesn't mean the connection is tight. Take the battery to an auto parts store and have it checked, both voltage and load. If you have the OEM battery, it is more than 5yrs old, and has lived out its useful life. Let us know how it goes, Dave |
