2008 Ulysses. Went to test out the outlets last night.... I want my xmp3 player when I go riding. The power under the seat works fine, the one in the dash doesnt. Anyone have any pointers of where to look for maybe a short? Or anything else to look for? I am going to take a voltmeter home from work tonight to do some troubleshooting as well. |

I've responded to your other post. It looks like the '08 also has the ground going to that ground point on the lower headstock. I would start there. |

I'm guessing your heated grips don't work also? I have the same problem with my 08 and need to look into it one of these days. My outlet will come on with the handlebars full lock left or right. |

No they actually do work, which is odd. My guess is there is a short between the plug and the actual outlet. |

So I was out working on it tonight. The heated grips were working, then I got the outlet working. Put the flyscreen back on and now neither work. Frustrating!! |

Hahaha,,,, So playing off of Yoopers post I went out and played with the bars. Center to let, outlet and grips work fine. Center to right, takes a dump. |

You probably have some broken wires in the wiring harness. I recently found three broken wires. They were broken inside the wire insulation. One went to the turn signals and one went to the clutch safety switch witch wouldn't let it start while in gear. the other I have no idea what it went to. |

That would now be my guess. Just went out and played with the wiring harness while turning. Pulled the harness towards the front of the bike and to the left. Worked fine all the way through the movement of the bars. Let it go and the problems start again. Guessing I have a winter project or will they cover that since it is still under warranty? |

If you can solder, have a heat gun (cheap at harbor freight) and have shrink tubing (also cheap at Harbor Freight) you can fix it yourself without a lot of difficulty. |

If its still under warranty, it should be covered. |

The big Tomahawk Fall Ride is this weekend and the Harley dealership it was purchased from will be there. Going to stop by and ask them. I would guess the warranty should cover it. |

I just got done playing around with the ground wires. Took the flyscreen and headlight assembly off. Took the grounds off and only reattached the one dealing with the power outlet. Nothing changed. Pulled on the wires a bit but no change. It looks like the break is somewhere in the larger bundle. |
