Hey guys, so I have an interesting issue. I have full throttle twist, the cable is fine, my boot is fine, the jet and diaphragm are fine. However the symptom is as if I cannot get the butterfly to open past 40%. Its as if I only have 30-40% of my throttle. I know its running well otherwise (fuel to air ratio) because I am getting great gas mileage. The guys at the bloomington, IN harley dealership (buell lovers) said its a very odd issue, they said the only thing they can think of is to check the butterfly, its little screws and see if the stud they are on is cracked. I did and I didn't see anything wrong with the butterfly. They also said I should check the bushings at the end of the stud (spindle, whatever, the thing that the butterfly is screwed to). How would I go about doing this? While I am enjoying the great gas mileage, I am not enjoying the forced restraint. I think it is worth noting I had put some race fuel in my bike before this issue began. It has been going on for about 400 miles, the vast majority of which were highway/interstate miles and it is getting progressively worse. When it first began on some throttle twists I could get full power. It is getting worse and I'm not trying to have my top speed get down to 45 mphs. It also pulls great at 30% throttle (which is about all it will respond to) at low revs. So I know its running well. Thank!} |

Anybody? EZ or Gearhead? It may be running lean at full throttle, and the issue is getting worse. Also its worth noting it seems to give me more throttle when its cold. |

alright guys, I went out and started investigating the issue as it is getting worse and two things. the first is when I take off my air cleaner and give it throttle, the needle does not move at all. The second is I put a piece of plastic on the rubber boot I have on the mouth of my carb, and I think it should have been air tight enough to strangle it, but it did not at all. did not even slow the rpms. So where do I check for a vacuum leak besides the boot? I sprayed wd40 all over the damn thing and couldnt get it to slow down at all. thanks (Message edited by weighttopowerr on September 13, 2012) |

Check your throttle cable. Check your vacuum line - make sure it is plugged. Make sure needle isn't jacked from bad shimming. EZ |
