Everyone talks about updating to the 2010 cam chain guide part # F0058.1AMB. I assumed that was the long plastic cam chain tension guide but it is the lower little bracket as seen in the below pictures. When updating to the 2010 cam train components is the lower bracket all that is needed or did the long cam chain tension guide change for the 2010 model as well?

This last weekend I had the frame off I shimmed the valves, insulated the frame, and updated to the EBR rotor with a Rick's stator. While I had the ignition side of the motor open I thought it to be a good idea to change the lower cam chain guide to the above 2010 guide (I have a 2009 1125R) but here is where I get confused, the lower cam chain guide that I removed from the motor is identical to the F0058.1AMB I have listed above down to the numbers molded into the part. So is it possible that my 2009 motor (no oil sight glass) came with the 2010 guides (bike has March 2009 as date of MFG on the frame) or did the guide that I got from HD is a mislabeled 2009 component? If anyone has a picture of a 2009 lower cam chain guide that may be helpful. |

The problem is that there are several pieces in the parts book called the chain guide, so it does make it a bit confusing to talk about. You ordered the correct part. The reason they are called the 2010 guide is that it came standard on 2010 motors, but given that it was not a new for 2010 part like the sight glass, it appeared on bikes sometime during the 2009 model year. Some 09s will have it, some won't, there is no way as far as I know to check ahead of time. |

I'm about to do the same job, want to sell that guide if you didn't use it? |
