Just bought a set of PMs for my S3T and will be getting new tires, too. What's the best size and brand of tire for sport touring? Looking for good price, performance, mileage, and looks. Please post pix or link to pix of the tire you suggest on a S2 or S3 w/PM wheels. |

Since PM's have the 5.5 inch rear you can go with the 180's in the rear vs. the 170's for the cast. I like Metzeler sport tourers, they have a new one which is the Z8. Great wet weather grip, long lasting..7-8000 miles. I'm on my third set of Z7's. http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/catalog/moto/moto_ catalogo_schedaDescription.page?categoria=/catalog /moto/sport_touring/none&vehicleType=MOTO&product_ id=883909&uri=/metzeler/en_IT/browser/xml/catalog/ moto/RoadtecZ8_Interact.xml&menu_item=/products/ca talog/sport_touring Motorcycle Superstore will probably get you the best price. |

If you are only getting 2000 miles out of the rear thats bad i would need a new tire every month |

I like the Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires. I ran Metzelers, but found them to be more slippery than the PR2s. I have been getting 10K + on them. I have several friends that prefer to run them too and have been getting about the same mileage. Chaparral Motorsports in San Berdoo CA has good prices and free shipping. They also have bundle kits where you can buy both a front and rear and save. |

I tried several tyres the past 7 years and like the michelin pilot power 2ct best. Looks: nice but seen better to be honest Performance: perfect. Very sharp in the curves and not nervous at high speed.been riding in the german eifel yesterday...over 100mph in a long stretched curve, steps almost hitting the ground: perfect and will go faster next time Mileage: Before the michelin i used 2 rear tyres in 1 motorcycle season . Now i use 3 rear tyres per 2 motorcycle seasons. I ride 10.000 to 12.500mls a year (Message edited by Dutch x1 on August 12, 2012) |

Dunlops work pretty good too. Q2 shodded on my '99 for commuting. Excellent grip in rain too. Easy turn in. Matched and have over 5,000 miles on them. |

You are ALWAYS better to stick with the stock size tire. Opinions will abound. It didn't become the "stock size tire" because it was "2nd best".

I have a conti motion rear on my CR from a mid-trip "whoops, need to replace that!" And it was cheap. Handles good but I'm not expecting high miles. |

New the CR had Pirellis then I went to Michelin pilot 2ct. The S1 has had Dunlops for 10+ years. Based on the CR Pirelli experience I put Pirellis on the S1. I am now thinking the Michelin turns in a bit too fast for me because I seem to over commit on turn in. The S1 loves the Pirellis too. |

I love the Pirelli Diablo Stradas that came on my PM equipped X1. They were new, still with the stickers on them when i bought the bike. They handle well, offer all the grip I need on dry and wet. And they seem to last. I've put over 2000 miles on them and they aren't showing signs of squaring at the center, and I've been on a lot of extended highway rides. I think the Diablo Stradas are now called just Diablos. |

Speaking of tires, I cheaped out and got Contiforce. Is it really a bad idea to just "upgrade" the front first and do the rears later? |

Is there a 190/50 or 190/55 that will fit with no clearance problems and still be able to keep the rear hugger? |

I ran a Metzler 190/55 and it fit on my s1 fine but the hugger would be tight i do not think so but the 180 fits all the way i run michelin pilots |
