After installing "smart fuses" which have an LED built into them to easily identify a blown fuse, I found a potential issue. My fan fuse blew which of course triggered a CEL. I put a "smart fuse" in there, but riding one day I noticed the fan wasn't running when it normally would. I chalked it up to cool evening riding, but had suspicions. Did a fan check with ecm spy and no fan, yet no CEL. Sure enough the "smart fuse" was lit up. Apparently, the bridge circuit for the LED makes the ECM think the fuse is good and not trigger a CEL. Maybe not such a good idea using these, especially on critical circuits. |
