We are riding my '06 Uly from San Diego to wherever we end up in northern California. We decided to stop and stay our first night in of all places, Buelton, CA. I filled up with 91 octane at the 76 Station just off of the highway and ended up getting some really crappy gas. My moto ran like crap all the way through Big Sur into Monterey. I added a bottle of fuel cleaner and more 91 octane and we are back in business. Headed to San Francisco and then to whatever location we decide next... I would add photos but for some reason I cannot get the photos from my ipad to this forum. |

Did you have some Anderson's Split Pea Soup in Buellton? |

Why yes I did get some split-pea soup. In a bread bowl nonetheless. It was delicious. I even stayed at their Inn. Amazing riding in that area but keep an eye out for LEO's. |

My wife and I rode to Monterey about this time last year. It was a disaster, but we made the best of it. We rode from Fernley, NV to Seaside. It was like 110 coming across the valley and we were burning up. Once got over Pacheco and into the Hollister area it was in the low 50s. Got into Seaside and it was raining and in upper 40s. We didn't pack any warm clothes really and were freezing when we got to hotel. There we found out it was Concourse de Elegance at Laguna Seca and the rooms were $270 a night. It was sort of a last minute trip, and on the day before we left I checked prices for that night and it was like $80 a night, so we were completely shocked to get there and find prices were so high. We didn't budget for that kind of prices so we only stayed 3 nights instead of the 5 we had planned on. Had fun in Monterey going on whale cruises and visiting the aquarium and stuff. Also got to see lots of Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Ferraris and so on. After our 3 nights were up we went to San Francisco for another 2 nights then rode back home. Monterey was cold and wet but we enjoyed it none the less. Glad the weather isn't so cold there this week. Have fun. If you hit San Francisco, Lombard St is kind of fun. I fill up at that 76 frequently. It is likely that the Andersons Pea Soup was the culprit. I often feel wonky after eating there... Usually clears up after 150 miles or so... bb |
