Author Message   Pfclewis Posted on Monday, May 30, 2011 - 12:22 pm:        To begin, I apologize if this topic has already been covered, and would appreciate it if someone could redirect me to the appropriate thread. I know where the spark plug is (left side of bike under the gas tank), I am just unsure on how to access it. It seems like you have to remove the gas tank as a whole, but that just seems way to unpractical. Maybe it is possible to remove the spark plug with some careful handeling, but if there is an easier way please let me know! It is a 2001 buell blast.   Nillaice Posted on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 - 05:52 am:        i'd pop the gas tank off just to make sure nothing falls into thru the sparkplug hole, and to make it easier so you don't cross-thread the spark plug. besides; the gas tank is not hard to remove. the hardest part about it is getting the rubber boot things removed from the front of the frame posts. once you get it off, be careful wher you set it. the fuel petcock can get busted/become leaky if it is stressed. mine was leaky for the longest time after the 3rd or so time i took it off. ... never got it to seal up right and make sure the little top piece of the spark plug is on tight before you put on the wire. mine came loose one morning and made me late for work   Syonyk Posted on Saturday, August 27, 2011 - 01:36 pm:        Removing the Blast gas tank is easy - a few bolts for the cover, then the rear clamp bit, then the rubber boots, and the thing comes right off. A long dowel & a mallet make getting the rubber bits off very easy. After the tank is off, you're looking at the spark plug & can easily replace it. Definitely not a difficult bike to do plugs on...   Bluzm2 Posted on Monday, August 29, 2011 - 09:45 am:        If you are nimble you can get the plug out without removing the tank. Just use a open end wrench from the side. I used a 16mm flex head gear wrench, and with that it was easy.
