Thanks for opening... My 2008 1125R wont start. Keeps blowing the fuel pump fuse and giving a Fuel PR error. Power is on Tries to crank Fuel is spraying into the throttle bodies But error shows and fuse blows Fuel pump is good (just swapped into a known good Buell and it rides fine) I think I'm missing a connection or ground but cant see where. Yes, I have the electrical manual, but I'm not that advanced.... tytytyty |

Bummer. Might be a tough one. After thoroughly inspecting all of the connections around the fuel pump visually I would simply take a multi-meter and check all of your positive connections to ground, starting with the fuel pump. Isolate which specific part of the circuit it is. Does the fuel pump fuse supply only just the fuel pump? |

You have a short somewhere. Hope you have the Electrical Diagnostics manual. Here is what I would do... 1.) Pull all the fuses out (take some pictures or draw it out) of the box EXCEPT the fuel pump fuse. 2.) start adding them in one by one until the fuel pump circuit fuse blows. That will isolate it down to that circuit that is making the fuel pump fuse blow. You'll find it...patience is your best friend |

sounds like a short to ground check continuity from the fuel pump fuse to ground, if you have continuity then there is a short somewhere in the harness from the fuse box to the pump. was this something that started after another repair? |

Thanks guys... I'll do some continuity checks... The bike started in october when I took it to Liberty Harley Davidson in Rahway NJ for a clutch issue. They charged me $200 to add some clutch fluid and advise me to swap the clutch... They said problem was fixed and bike started. But my didn't check them... After a forum search, I decided to remove the chassis and check the fuel pump wiring... Will report back |

So here is what i ended up doing... Pulled the chassis from the broken bike Replaced the fuel pump with another from a salvage bike, breaking 2 snap on tools! Nearly flipped out when the throttle side bolt hole wouldn't align within within .6 inches. After wiggling and lifting, resorted to cargo straps and leverage. it moved 2mm and I said "maybe i can force it" lol. Well the spacing tolerance for that bolt are wider than they seem. That long bolt slid right in There were no obvious shorts in the failed fuel pump. They must be internal, that is the only thing I changed and the bike starts up just fine. 2008 fuel pumps are shite 12 hours of work! |

Apparently I have one of the best made 08's out there. Not to say mines been trouble free. But generally when somethings gone out once fixed it stays fixed. Worst thing I had was a bum front exhaust cam. Was down for months because of that but that's because I was/am broke not because of harley. |
