I have the Airtech panels and belly pan. Real soon I will finally have some time to mount and paint them. I know all black is the coolest color, but I want to be visible on street. So I'm planning to paint the section of the side panels from the line just bellow the bottom of the top fairing to the line at the bottom of the bubble with yellow, red from the bottom of that section to the horizontal line above the belly pan. The pan will be black. I'm using the one piece tail and will paint it yellow too. The airbox cover, fender and upper fairing will remain black. Can you visualize that? Any other examples? What scheme other than stock do you like? I'm hoping to see some creative ideas other than the solid stock colors. This is an image from Airtech of the fairings I'm talkin about.

Sounds like you will achieve your objective. If you would like to break-up the side panels a bit, the 2010 graphics, ordered from HD, worked on my lowers.

I have to get Loretta painted soon too. I didn't like the rough surface on the Diamond Blue, so I sprayed clear lacquer over the top. Looked gorgeous and wet for 2-3 years then started to craze. Surface looks like a dry lake bed now with all the surface cracks. not pretty anymore...

Gasteward, your bike looks very good. Your suggestion is cool but my goal is not to breakup the appearance of the panels. I would like to find a visually acceptable color scheme that stands out in traffic. I’ve had too many close calls on the street and would like to be more visible. Zac, I look forward to seeing your solution in the future. Are you thinking of staying with the all black look or are something different? BTW my swingarm is the stock silver chain drive. I've thought about painting it but I'm not sure about getting the color right. Besides the plain aluminum does make it look special. Maybe someday I should strip the blue off the frame to match the swingarm. (Message edited by duggram on June 17, 2012) |

Nice fly screen Reducati..... I would love to slap some side panels and belly pan on the CR and paint to match May and Eslick HERO graphics....but I love the naked cafe look too.... oh the misery...
I need a picture outside... this is the day I picked it up 2 months ago... looks the same....except more miles.... Cheers- pete |

Smoke4ndmears - that's the color I'm looking for, for my frame & swingarm. Very close to what mine looked like at first. So Doug, I plan to keep the plastic black and paint the frame & swingarm something like the paint Smoke4mears used on his plastics. With that color glossy for your bodywork, the matte finish on frame and swingarm look very good. I see you have long-stem Firebolt mirrors too, they are the best. Jim, that looks nice! But I can see you need a chain drive. Would you like to buy one? A mag rear wheel? or maybe a race exhaust? At least I can tell you read the whole original post!! |

> I can see you need a chain drive. > Would you like to buy one? Yea, but splitting with $2k for the EBR kit and the having to put new bearings in all my rear wheels is a major drag. > A mag rear wheel? I've got one.. well, actually 4 of those. We talking about the Buell race part? > or maybe a race exhaust? Got one of those, too. |

Can't sell my race stuff, so I'm going to end up with a bitchin street/trackday bike. Not so sure it will be orange though. I've got a bunch of yellow and red left over from another project. Good luck with the race bike. |

Would you consider a trade? I've got a super-duper-sweeeeeeeet PVM rear wheel, maybe a set of OEM wheels, and maybe some other stuff I could trade for that chain drive... |

Thanks for the offer, but it doesn't sound like what I'm looking for. I'm trying to reduce my holdings and come up with $'s. |

Sigh... and all I want is a chain drive for less than $2k. How much $ you need for that chain kit if I tossed in a PVM rear that cost me $2k landed... |

The body does drag. Look at the first pic... It's the Flexi-Glass kit. Good stuff, though like all race glass it's a PITA to keep up with bright color on it... |

Duggram - I haven't mounted up ram-air bodywork yet, this is Flexi- non-ram that I've run last year or so.

Thanks, been playing around with a few color combos - - this turned out better than I thought it would. Originally purchased the red pod covers to put on for track days, realizing its only a matter of time before I crash test the leathers . . . Also run it in the black / white scheme (aka the "Oreo")
Plus OEM "Tactical Fast Black". |
