Went through the Service Manual and the Electrical Supplement for any insight as to how to remove the fuse block from the aluminum frame that surrounds the battery? There are 2 aluminum "prongs" that hold the fuse block inside a plastic tab. Do you just pull the box upward, or is there a release for the aluminum prongs? Need to move this box to install an additional ground wire that connects the battery and all of the ground points on the bike. Thanks |

Tom- it's been over a year since the one-and-only time I've had to remove mine, but there are plastic tabs on the fusebox that have to be released so it can slide up past the catches on the battery frame (which I believe is actually steel). Here's a photo of mine immediately following removal: (Sorry for the fuzzy focus; my lens was dirty.) You can see that the battery holder has two "bars" that stick up; each has a square hole in it. The fusebox has parts that slide over the "bars" and a plastic tab that snaps into each square hole to latch the fuse box into place. Take a flat-tipped screwdriver and insert down beside the fusebox where you see the tabs. I forget which way you pry (gently!) but they will release easily. IIRC they work sort of counter-intuitively; you wind up prying the opposite direction from what you think you would at first glance. You're prying a plastic tab out of that square hole so that the fusebox can slide up and off. Play with it for a while; it's not that hard. It just takes some "fiddling". It will slide down and snap right into place when you go to reinstall it. |

The Battery box is indeed steel. And yes you pry the plastic tabs toward the outside of the bike, which as you said, is backwards. Thanks (Message edited by Buelldualsport on July 04, 2012) |
