Sounds good, although 100+ miles of tollway/expressway is not too inviting. Is there a side route off the main we could try. Also, the lunch options inside the track are pretty limited. Maybe we could stop in Plymouth before we go in. Also, Anyone know this person? From the Huntley News A St. Charles man was pronounced dead after a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon. A Kane County Sheriff’s Department press release said that at about 1:30 p.m., deputies responded to a traffic crash near Illinois Route 25 and May Lane in St. Charles Township. The investigation indicated that the driver of a 2006 Chevy Cobalt was waiting to turn left onto May Lane when a 1996 Buell Motorcycle struck the rear of the Cobalt. The motorcycle driver, David Barker, 57, of the 39W900 block of Stonecrop Court in St. Charles, was transported from the scene by Fox River and Countryside Fire/Rescue District EMS personnel. He was pronounced dead at Delnor Hospital. He was wearing a helmet, according to the press release. Route 25 was closed until about 2:40 p.m. The crash is still under investigation by Kane County Sheriff’s detectives, according to the press release. It doesn’t appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, the press release said. No citations have been issued. The driver of the Cobalt was uninjured, the sheriff’s office said." |

Paul, I don't know the unfortunate St Charles Buell rider David Barker. May he RIP and may we learn from his accident. Regarding the route to Elkhart Lake, I would be happy to get off of the interstate after this stop --> 11am Pick up Tim’s friends Harold and Mike at Citgo off of I-94 & HWY 50 in Kenosha, WI. Paul and Tim I, I don't know the Eastern WI roads well. Would one of you be willing to pick us out a route from Kenosha to Elkhart Lake which hits scenic and twisty county roads? We could also use Tim I's GPS which has his twisty favorite X's and "ad lib" the route from Kenosha to Elkhart Lake. - Marc |

You guys probably already know this, but just a reminder to watch the speed limits as you travel those particular roads to Road America. Many towns are infamous speed traps, and the cops do not give anyone a break. Their favorite is to nail you leaving town when the limit is still 25 MPH for way longer than it should be, and all you see is open road and twisties ahead. Don't do it, they will get you....just patiently hold the 25 MPH limit until you actually pass the higher speed limit sign, and not a moment sooner. Have fun! |

Thank you for the warning Curt. How about you come with and show us where the coppers lay? Route W67 is a very nice route. Lets find out about the Erik Buell Racing location for Friday. From what I gather they will all be at the track and the actual facility will be closed. East Troy is always a good place to meet anyway. If Tim's route is the decided path I will meet you then in or around east Troy to avoid traveling east into traffic, poor road conditions, trucks, and having to double back west. Keith Krahmer can you make it this year? |

Who is riding up in the group and when will you be at the track? Let me know where you will be eating dinner etc and maybe Mike and I can meet up with you. There is a flat track race on Friday night if you are interested. Can't wait to see you. Dana |

I bribed Sharon to accompany me on a trip to Belgium in a couple weeks as long as she has fun on this bike trip. This will put a lot of pressure on her during trip. She will be like a grenade that can explode at the drop of a hat. Most have met her and know how edgy she is. Marc, maybe the same technique will work for you. Just trying to help out. Tim II |
