Hey all,

Please bare with me as this is my first bike and I'm still learning about it. I just had all kinds of work done on it and it's been running beautifully for the last week that I've had it. Well, I was riding it last night and when I got home I shut everything off right after filling it up at the gas station. Ignition switch, fuel valve, and key out. Everything was just as I normally put it. Well, I tried starting it up today only 11 hours after I parked it and it won't start. I pulled the choke out a little bit, ignition switch on, and fuel valve on. All I'm getting when I try to crank it is rapid clicking. No crank what-so-ever. It's like it's not even trying to turn over. I tried the horn and that's dead. So I figured maybe it's the battery. So I tried jumping it with my parked (off) car battery (which I've done in the passed) and still nothing but clicking. Also, I doubt it makes a difference but I'm putting everything out there so you know everything. The upper half of the engine was completely re-built so I hadn't taken it out on the highway. I was told 100 miles under 55mph and then it was safe to take it on the highway. I was at 120 miles so I took it out on the highway last night. Again, I doubt this makes a difference as to why it won't start, but I'm throwing it in there. Lastly, the battery is literally brand new. I got it a couple months ago so it shouldn't be shot. Please help!

Check the ground strap for tightness. Mine does the same thing every once in a while and it's always the ground.

Or even just the battery terminals. If they aren't snug it can do that as well.

From there, you possibilities are bad battery, bad stator, or bad voltage regulator (probably in roughly that order of likelihood).

ok, thanks for the help guys. Update - I checked the terminals and the positive terminal was just a tad loose so I tightened it all the way down and put it on the trickle charger overnight. I woke up this morning and it started up just fine. So I'm going to see tomorrow if it still starts up fine with it just sitting overnight with no charger. I'll post again if the problem persists.
