I picked up an S2 fender off ebay several months ago, and finally got around to installing it. Well, attempting to install it. The mounting hole for the left side fastener that goes into the swingarm doesn't line up with the hole in the swingarm. It isn't even close. What am I doing wrong? Do the 95 and 96 S2 have different fenders? |

There was a swing arm change wasn't there? And a recall swing arm. Maybe that is the difference? |

Ah. Was not aware of the swingarm change. So I need to find a 95 fender. Would really like an OEM piece. Have to keep an eye on ebay. |

Thinking on it, that would not account for the difference since the recall swingarm would have had to mate up with the existing fender. You are talking about the inner cf fender? |

The CF hugger, yes. |

Hootowl, see item 25 page 11 on service bulletin B025A (http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/B025A-263572.pdf). Hugger won't match recalled swingarm. So I guess your bike has the update done, the guy who sold the hugger to you did not have it done. When drilling a new hole, make sure the hugger centers with same space from both tire walls when you look from rear. Your next new tire might be wider (profile is different from makes to makes), one side rubbing against the hugger. How do I know? Mine did. (Message edited by s2forever on May 31, 2012) |

Interesting. -quote Late production 1996 S2 and S2T models (equipped with the later version swing arm) require: l. Enlargement (filing) of the front left hole on the rear inner fender to allow insertion of the T-washer. l Drilling an additional hole in the rear inner fender to allow installation (the rear left swingarm mount tab does not line up with the existing rear inner fender hole). -end quote So it appears that the fender I bought was from a late 96 model that had not had the recall done. Thanks! Mystery solved. I guess I'm drilling a hole. |

I thought just the 95 had the carbon fiber rear fender & the 96 ABS plastic but could be wrong |

They were both carbon fiber. The 1996 was shot with Vinylon. |

My late 95 had a Vinylon coated hugger on it when I got it. Not sure if it was production, or a retrofit. I have since located and installed a "greenie" to match the air filter though - the early Buell CF work was simply...art. I sit and stare at the rear hugger on my S1W on a regular basis. Especially when it's out in the sun. Just...wow. |
