Haslam needs to get a T-shirt that says " I'm with Stupid, with arrow pointing " Then go stand by Melandri.

I see we're going to have to agree to disagree about this one. Besides, there are more important things to discuss... like the Bombshell dropped in LeMans today in MotoGP.

GREAT racing today. Don't know what happened to Leon, but Marco was on FIRE. And thanks to Carlos returning "true to form" Marco has a shot at the title. Hope he can keep it up and bring my prediction to fact!

Fantastic race from Johnny Rea too. Almost taking a win in front of Aprilias and BMWs that could just drive past him on the straight was impressive.
How long before Honda rewards his loyalty with a MotoGP seat?

I assume from his absence that Mark Aitchison will be on the Kawasaki in BSB.

OK, what's with the Monday night races!Managed to miss the TV coverage as I forgot it was even on!

Strange lack of form from Haslam in both practice/qualifying and both races, especially as the 'dark side' of the BMW garage did so well : (

Good performance from Chaz Davies at last too. Seem she may be getting used to the Aprilia at least, although it could just be that this circuit favours the RSV4 better than others : )

How long before Honda rewards his loyalty with a MotoGP seat?

Normally you would say he was in line for a ride in MotoGP, but so far he hasn't been able to attract any interest. He wanted to move to MotoGP last season but nobody wanted him, and next year I can't see a place for Johnny at any of the Honda equipped teams either. Unless someone else drops out of contention I think he may be destined to remain in WSB for another season at least.

having said that, the MotoGP rider merry go round is only going to get more frantic now and who knows where it will end and who will ride what next year : )

Leon seemed plagued by problems including a puncture in qualifying. From the pictures he certainly didn't look his usual self - I hope he's not letting the events at Donington get to him. It can't have been easy watching Melandri ride so well either.

The second race is certainly worth a watch (the first was pretty processional) once Checa had dropped out the fight between Rea and Melandri was very entertaining even if the result was rather predictable. Great rides from both of them all the same.
Biaggi had the edge on Chaz and looked like he had the pace to stay with Rea and Melandri if he'd got a better start.

Looks like Melandri was up to his old tricks again in race two, getting up the inside of people too late in the corner..again. This time he knocked Checa off. Sooner or later the organisers have to give Melandri a penalty for doing the same dangerous move time after time after time surely?

On lap 4 I was behind Carlos. I tried to pass him in turn four where I felt strong in braking. We were side by side, so I expected him to see me, but when we started to flick into the corner he seemed not to realize that I was next to him as he touched my leg with his shoulder and he lost the front. I am very sorry. Carlos is a great guy and a fair sportsman. -- M. Melandri

Marco pushed me out through the corner, which is strange as he’s normally more careful but anyway that’s how it went. It’s a real pity as I could have made another good race and taken important points. -- C. Checa

There have been plenty of complaints this season about Melandri's habit of 'standing up' other riders in corners by attacking just a moment too late and suddenly taking the apex away. Checa is being polite, but I think other less polite riders would have had Melandri by the throat post race ; )
Laverty, Biaggi and others have been less polite about Marcos recent tactics.

Seems to be the fashion these days as Marquez seems to specialise in a very similar move to this in Moto2 (and has also drawn plenty of criticism for it).

I would imagine he is under pressure to justify his wage bill and "No 1" billing - particularly after turning a 1-2 finish into 15th and a DNF at Donnington. I don't see much wrong with what he's doing.....but the team probably has other ideas when he does it to his teammate! He appears to have the edge on Haslam, the power to beat Rea and the ability to make his tyres last that will put him ahead of Sykes. We know he's prepared to punt Checa out of the way so he should be able to challenge Biaggi for the title : ).
I'm not sure about the views of the other riders but if they really object I'm sure they'll return the compliment.

Great to see Johnny Rea consistently up there. If he doesn't make it out of WSB it would be nice to see him riding something that doesn't get blitzed on long straights. The way he has to override the Honda makes me worry about injuries.

I think most of the front runners will keep an eye out for Marco in future, and I think he would come off second best if he tried his tactics against Rea or Laverty ; )

It is a shame that there doesn't appear to be anywhere for Johnny Rea in MotoGP, especially as he has remained loyal to Honda becauser of their alleged 'promise' to put thim into GP in future and his promising test at Sepang last year.

Ask Nicky Hayden what he thinks being "loyal to Honda" has gotten him.

if honda brings Rea I am sure they will pay him penuts and rember some of the old honda guys might be on their way out.
Stoner and maybe Danny.
as far as loyalty, it all depends on the timing.
remember that once stoner leaves, Lorenzo will be the only guy to beat. Nicky can't get pass 5th place, rossi is done, Spies can't be consistent.
I would like to see Hayes get a ride in GP, I think he has shown with his team that they are a great combo.
he also seems very mature as a person and he knows what it takes to keep himself at a level that he can beat anyone on the track.
if he leaves, this will leave the doors wide open for AMA.

Hayes is too old to be considered for a seat on a MotoGP team (unless he wouldn't mind riding for a CRT). And not to worry, because Blake is till quite Young (pun intended) and should be around for a long time.

Not a chance that will happen! If Yamaha wanted him they would have approached him years ago. However it is just too big a risk now taking a rider of his age straight from AMA to GP racing without experience of world championship tracks or GP bikes. I think Nicky Hayden will be remembered as the last rider to move directly from AMA racing to MotoGP.

There is plenty of young talent in Moto2 and WSB that MotoGP teams will look at first before trawling AMA/BSB/IDM domestic championships. I know I keep saying it, but if young riders want a domestic championship to get noticed in the need to ride in the Spanish CEV rather than AMA/BSB etc.

I can't argue there. Haslam hasn't looked the same since Donington. Cracking second race. I can't imagine that Max was too chuffed about being third Aprilia home.

Cracking second race

Melandri again made some hard overtakes in race two, but at least he never took anyone off this time!

Haslam was apparently very quiet in the garage all weekend and some sources are saying he will not be at BMW much longer : ( The atmosphere has definitely changed since Donington in that team and Melandri now seems to be the golden boy who can do no wrong, which is a shame after all the work that Leon has put in for that team over the time he has been there.

Did you see the Supersport race? What was Sofuoglu thinking trying to headbutt/barge Foret at 180mph+!!! I think he was very lucky just to be docked 3 places and really should have had all his points taken away.

Good ride by Sam Lowes though and a deserved win.

People forget that Marco once came in as runner-up to Valentino Rossi in the MotoGP World Championship. Unfortunately, his brilliance was overshadowed by his disastrous season with Ducati. Thanks to Ducati management, he even started questioning his own ability. He's found his "mojo" again in WSBK.

I also remember him punting Rossi off the track with an ill-judged overtake at Motegi that very same year! : )
His passes weren't exactly elegant at Aragon but they were timed well to make sure he got over the line first. I suppose it doesn't matter how you do it - it's the result that counts.

The Sofuoglu incident was strange. He won't talk about it and Foret seems pretty quiet about it too.

Maybe it goes with the territory of having the name "Marco..."

Still, WSBK has always been more "rough and tumble" than MotoGP. Remember all the complaints against Toseland's style when he first joined the MotoGP grid? Perfectly normal in WSBK, but downright impolite in MotoGP. ; )
