Crap ! I typoed the heading...Looking at an 08 1125R this weekend. How does this bike ride with a passenger? My GF likes to go just about everywhere with me as long as we are on a bike but she has looked at some pics and is doubtful of it. She has liked my last 2 bikes which were a 750 Katana and My M2. It is about as good two up as your M2. My girlfriend loves the CR for short jaunts, but my Ulysses is king if you are going at least a full gas tank worth of riding. | ||

Froggy I kept my XT for the same reason. I have the toy (1125R) to keep me happy and the XT to keep us both happy. | ||

Your m2 has a thick and cushy plush seat the 1125 has a brick like 1 1/2" of hard foam to torture your pillions bottom. But other than that, makes a great 2 up ride. | ||

Thanks guys, she's not real worried about the cushy-ness(?) of the seat but rather how far up the back of the bike is compared to the others. | ||

My GF and I ride 2 up all the time. I'm too lazy to buy rear pegs for my FXRS. She enjoys it and there is no struggle for power during that time. The only complaint from my GF are "The seat doesn't have enough padding" and "She hates holding onto the seat strap as she prefers a grab handle. Otherwise, her and I enjoy riding around Red Rock Canyon and such. | ||

My GF and I go every where on the 1125R. We just came back from doing a ride from 9:30am-6:30pm Chicago, IL to Galena, IL mostly all back roads few highway here and there. We go from Chicago, IL to Indianapolis for MotoGP every year. Couple times a year we go from Chicago, IL to Dubuque, IA as well about 300ish miles. We are planning to go to the UP Michigan which is about an 8 hour drive this year as well. Here is what I will tell you hitting the twisties 2up is very easy. We plan on doing a 2up track day in June. Your ass and her ass will be a little sore on the long trips. It isn't as bad as my 05 GSXR 600 though. I do plan on making my own seat and a pillion with extra padding to see how that works out. On a side note on the long trips if we stay over night some where. I have the OGIO Saddle bags and they do work when shes with me as well. (Message edited by CraigG on May 22, 2012) | ||

My wife liked the Triumph Sprint ST quite a bit more (big surprise, eh?) I liked her on the Buell, the suspension handled her 5'8" 120 lbs a lot better, since I'm heavy Her complaints are mirrored what's been said here - tight leg room, not much seat padding (Message edited by sprintst on May 22, 2012) | ||

I bought the passenger comfort seat with my 1125,she doesn't complain about the seat ever but does about the leg room on longer rides | ||

I had the Uly and my partner loved it. She isnt so keen on the 1125r but fitting the firebolt pillion touring seat, using a piece of sheepskin and adding the gel pad has made it much better. We do all day rides only stopping for gas and she is it is fine. We have a pack rack which she uses to lean against if she needs to(I know she shouldnt) but it works as well. | ||

Green..try the drop pegs. I fitted them with the 1 inch drop and she says it makes a huge difference | ||

Hell no i'm not putting drop pegs on,she may come out more often.She doesn't like longer rides anyway,an hour or two on warm sunny days is more than enough for her anyways | ||

Thanks for all the replies. I pick the bike up in the morning and I'm sure I'll have to take her for a ride that evening so I see what happens after the first impression.She's not much of a complainer though. The comfort seat is a good idea but will the cover still fit over it? As far as the drop pegs she actually pointed out she might like the pegs higher than the ones on the M2. | ||

You can't get the various accessory seats anymore other than second hand on ebay, here is a picture of the touring seat that my girlfriend loves. I don't know how it compares to the stock, she hasn't ridden with that.  | ||

I like that Froggy. It kinda also doubles as a backstop for your butt. I just got back from getting the bike and after a 110 mile ride Ive form some opinions and need to make a plan of attack to mod the bike. I'll post more on that tomorrow. You remove the seat/cowl from the bike and you'll notice when you look at it. It slides out from the cowl. My bike is in Vegas but if i do remember correctly.. Pull the seat towards the back of the cowl. | ||

Pull the seat toward the front of the cowl. Pull down so the tab isn't grabbing the bottom, then slide it out, tab on the top of the seat cover as you slide it out of the cowling. Wide end first. | ||

Well the verdict is in. She likes the ride but said if I we decide to go on a long rides a seat change might have to happen but she will give it a little more time. She doesnt want to change the look of the bike with cover on. I'll start a new thread on the other issues I'm having with it. (Message edited by 273-4 on May 24, 2012) |
