Hi all Great Forum lots of interesting posts. I have just received some carbon fibre frame covers and have a couple of questions. The parts have a couple of bright red blobs on them under the top coating, and one has what looks like a dent its about 10mm by 4mm 0.5mm deep. I have been told the manufacture that’s this is normal, and they have offered to replace them. Are these discolorations normal? These are the first carbon parts I have purchased so I don’t know if it is normal. If it is then there is no point returning them as the new ones may be the same or worse. What do you lot think. (Have tried to attach photo’s of blobs don’t know if you can see them) Thanks Lee

Some small and minor imperfections are normal with Carbon products, but that red blob is not normal IMO. |

Lee, The person to ask about the carbon fiber thing is Al from American sport bike. My front carbon fiber fender had a slight blimish in it, but none of the fiber had red like that. Let me know how it goes, as I am looking into frame slider/puck combo in the near future. Tatsu (Message edited by Tatsu on August 07, 2004) |

The red showing through is NOT normal. The odd blemish in the clearcoat "happens" but I am loathe to describe that as "normal" either. It's all about the method with CF; Pre-preg vs. lay-up DOES make a difference. Get another set. CHris |
