Has anyone installed a HID? Curious to know if it would screw up the charging system. I need more light at night. Tried every kind of replacement bulbs. The improvement was minimal if any. |

I put HID in my Ulysses and my CR. If it was gonna compromise ANY charging system, the 1125 would be it. No issues. Actually, they use LESS running voltage than halogens. www.ddmtuning.com is where I got mine, very happy (except I picked the wrong color; 4300-4500k is a true "white" light and the 6000k I got is too blue for my tastes). |

Just dropped a pair of Hi/Lo H4 (4300K)HIDs into my Trophy. I am pretty sure my alternator is gonna like it. That 120 watt draw on high beam is now just a mere 70 now. more room for other goodies! What a difference in the dark. You can't miss the frog eyed Trophy anymore. Wish I could try it on the S1. |

I have a DDM Tuning HID on my M2. It is so bright that in broad daylight I have seen pedestrians look away. At night it is amazing to have that much illumination from a single headlight. I also have one that I plan to install in my S3T. Best of all, if it should ever fail, I can just unplug the HID bulb and transformer and put the H4 back in to get home. Then DDM Tuning will send me a replacement under their lifetime warranty. |

I have a 5000k bi-xenon in my S3T, 55w model. It looks pure white to be, though I know 4500k is supposed to be actually pure white. I had 6000k in a car before, too blue for me. It is extremely bright and that only fix, aside from all new headlights, I have found for the S3. I'm pretty sure I could tape my cell phone to front for illumination and be better off than the stock setup. |

Where did you put all the extra wiring and ballasts? What is the bulb for the x1? |

I attached a mount plate to the headlight shell and placed the ballast in the space behind the fly screen ( under the dash ) I used the h4 "Bi xenon" arrangement 1 lamp that moves. |

For those of you think of getting this for an X1 please think twice. It does not fit. The back of the bulb is too big to fit in the headlight bucket. Now I have an extra hole I cut in it to deal with the new wiring. If I would have know it would not fit I would have never gotten it. Does anyone want to buy this off me? Does anyone have a good headlight bucket for me? |

I got it in. I had to hammer out the back of the headlight bucket. Even after that I had to force the light back into the bucket. If anyone has a original bucket please let me know. |

I had to do similar 2002, still worth the effort, I need to replace the lamp as the Hi/Lo feature is not working, I have read good reviews for DDM I have had less than stellar luck with others |

So use a different headlight bucket... If anyone wants this setup I have my s1 headlight setup with a 3000k bulb. New glass. Modified internal reflector.... Dont use it anymore since I built my projector housings. |

Are you just pulling suggestions out of the air? Do you know the reason the headlight bucket is different on an X1? Or are you sending me down a road of do not fit issues. If I get a deeper bucket it probably will not fit the bike without getting different brackets. Next thing I will be on a wild goose chase. I just don't want someone to see this thread and think it is just changing the bulb. There is a lot involved. |

I got a DDM kit & installed it on my S3. It is brighter for sure but I had hoped for more. I was wondering a couple of things. For those that have made the switch, which way is that metal bulb cover thing supposed to be oriented. Open side to the top or bottom. Also, would removing that thing altogether give me more light? In blind as a bat m, especially at night & need all the help I can get... |

anyone have a picture of where they are putting the ballast and all the wiring on a tuber? i have an M2 and kind of interested in a HID swap. I switched over to HIDs on my yzf600r but I had a lot more space to hide the ballast and wiring within the fairings |
