Well, the bike is apart and looks like it was hit by a train but I am finally able to get to the valves but after all that, I am stuck on the dumbest part: How the hell do you remove the clips that hold the finger-followers in place? This is supposed to be the easy part but I'm apparently not smart enough for it to be easy. BTW, after 12k miles, all exhaust valves were tight and the two intakes on the front cylinder were as well. |

Rotate (lift) it up, gently pop it loose with a screwdriver or try twisting it a little. It's not held in super tight. There's a small space in the center you can stick a pick or small screwdriver under for either side to lift it. (Message edited by d_adams on May 17, 2012) |

My concern has been breaking them so I haven't used much force. I'll try a little harder. |

You want to pry on one side only, makes it easier. |

Use a large screw driver. Use the screw driver to pry one end of the plastic spacer up, while simultaneously holding down the OPPOSITE side of the clip with your finger. It's important you hold the OPPOSITE side okay? It won't work if you hold down and pry on the same side. It should pop right out with a bit of "gentle" force. |
